No need for whiskers here as the Ferguson TE-A arrives on site. The TE-A Perkins P3 conversion, heading towards Otford and the Ecclestone run estate. John Parnaby gets going early to miss the crowds with his MF 35. Not safe at all, and illegal at that, the passenger position on the 135. The monster MF 2620 four-wheel looks a cool job and still works when it can.<\/p>\n

The crowds lined the route as the tractors headed to Warden. Arriving on site the Massey Ferguson 399, which is still working. The early Red Giant 135 is a narrow conversion, used in the Kentish hop and apple orchards. It got rather hot underneath the beard for this Father Christmas, with his MF 135 and Alf in the MF transport box.<\/p>\n

Staged by Dave Hodges and family, and members of the South East division of the Ford and Fordson Association, it saw some 62 tractors assemble at main organiser Dave Hodges\u2019 premises near Otford, Sevenoaks, Kent, on Sunday 21 December. The event was held in aid of Kent Air Ambulance and is hugely popular locally, as the Hillbilly road runners travelled along the way through the Ecclestone family\u2019s St Clare Estate to The Bell Inn, where a break was taken.<\/p>\n

The tractor drivers were all suitably dressed, mostly in Father Christmas out\ufb01ts, as they headed to Kemsing and then past the Bucks Head Inn at Godden Green. Later on the highlight was travelling through Sevenoaks high street, which was lined by thousands of people who all enjoyed the occasion. It looks like the \u00a31,883.44 raised was a record amount for the event, which saw an excellent range of Ferguson and MF 35s and 135s take part. Congratulations to all who participated. The Six Bells Road Run is the biggest Boxing Day vintage tractor road run of its kind in the UK today and features mostly classic and some vintage tractors.<\/p>\n

It starts from Burgess Engineering\u2019s premises at Cross In Hand, East Sussex. The \ufb01rst event saw Brian Tompsett organising the route and Jeff Burgess preparing his garage, so that everyone taking part had free refreshments and mince pies. Our CMFE editor Peter Love created the publicity and phoned up a number of friends to ask them to take part.<\/p>\n

Twenty-\ufb01ve years ago 29 tractors came to the \ufb01rst event, however, in 2025 nearly 200 tractors took part in this eight-mile run to the Six Bells Inn in Chiddingly, which is famous for the Moon and The Sledge Hammer BBC TV and Cinema screen \ufb01lm, made in the early 1970s. The Six Bells is a very popular establishment with good food and drink.<\/p>\n
