One solution is to enable reader mode, which is built into most browsers. It strips out surplus elements of a web page to make it easier to read. One happy side effect is that it often Turn on reader mode in Chrome and Edge Chrome’s reader mode (called ‘reading’ mode) is very easy to turn on when using the browser in Windows.

Simply visit a page, then right-click anywhere within it and select ‘Open in reading mode’ in the context menu that opens. This splits the window in two, with the original page on the left ( 1 in our screenshot below), and the simplified view in reading mode. Install the Just Read extension (www.snipca.com/58049), which adds a Just Read entry to the Extensions menu.

Click ‘Just Read’ here, and it opens a simplified view of the active webpage. If you always want to open a particular site in that view, click the three dots to the right of the Just Read entry on the Extensions menu, then click Options. Scroll down to ‘Auto-run domains list’ and type the address of the site you want to always open using Just Read. You can also enter a partial address to cover lots of websites with similar names.

In our example, we’ve typed history.* (see screenshot above) to cover all sites reader view on the right 2. When in ‘Reading mode’ you’ll see an open-book icon 3 to the right of your browser toolbar. If you click the pin icon above the right- hand pane 4 the split-view will stay in place as you navigate the page. From now, whenever a site works in reading mode you’ll see the book icon appear. Clicking it turns the split screen on and off.

Best BUDGET devices tested – don’t devices tested – don’t buy expensive laptops and PCs buy expensive laptops and PCs p50   Stream to your Stream to your TV TV   Cut electricity Cut electricity bills bills   Connect Connect all all devices devices   Easy to Easy to upgrade upgrade   Use as a Use as a NAS NAS drive drive   All the All the ports ports you need you need   Refurbished Refurbished bargains bargains Beat Beat RAM RAM price rises price rises FROM £130!

Great quality and BRITISH! p29 BUY THIS FREELY TV SECURITY WARNINGS WE ALWAYS IGNORE They stop you using 100% SAFE software and websites – see page 62 3 WELCOME We use snipcas to turn long URLs that are hard to type into ones that are short and simple.
