Halax-Ten,\u201d I reply with ill grace. \u201cWhat the fuck is Halax-Ten?\u201d Tara fires at me. \u201cIt\u2019s a paradise planet. I have to spend a week there, with you, doing nothing whilst the Guardian goes to the fourth quadrant,\u201d I grind out. The trip back has taken it out of me, and I collapse next to her, a ball of latent anger that has nowhere to go.<\/p>\n

Tara laughs. \u201cPoor General Kylar. He\u2019s such a hard case he has to be ordered to take it easy by his great leader.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s not funny,\u201d I grump at her. \u201cOh, but it is. When do we leave, and have you got a swimsuit? Paradise planet sounds hot and sandy to me.\u201d The smile on her face fills me with joy, even if her insolence fills me with the desire to take her, hard and fast while she is spread before me, unable to move.<\/p>\n

That thought is going to have to wait as I\u2019m the one who can\u2019t move much at the minute. \u201cZorx is preparing the shuttle for departure in an hour. We can get what we need on the planet.\u201d I tell her as I place a hand on her belly. The rest will do her good, she\u2019s close to giving birth and the last few days have been hard on her.<\/p>\n

Verin told me she never left my side while I was unconscious and in the grip of the Fah poison. \u201cUhg, Zorx.\u201d She rolls her eyes. \u201cIs he coming too?\u201d \u201cJust him and a small cohort of warriors. Until I\u2019m back to full strength, I can\u2019t leave you undefended.\u201d As much as it pains me to admit it, I\u2019m going to need help.<\/p>\n

He watches me closely, but I\u2019m not going to look at him. He\u2019s disgusting anyway, with his yellowing tusks sprouting from his lower jaw and his piggy dark eyes, not to mention his insipid green skin. He might like to call himself my \u2018master\u2019, but he\u2019ll never be the master of me. I\u2019ve met many different alien species since I was abducted from Earth nearly a year ago, but this lot are the worst. Who knew there were even aliens out there?<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t a question that had ever bothered me while living my normal life on Earth. \u201cGet me something to eat, pet.\u201d My master\u2019s voice booms. He sits on the big chair placed in the center of the room like he\u2019s royalty and stares down at me. I\u2019m in my usual position at his feet, looking demure as always.<\/p>\n

At least I can spit in his food if he\u2019s not looking. I learned a long time ago that outright defiance is dangerous and painful. In my current condition, he\u2019s less likely to hurt me, but the way he\u2019s been looking at me recently, I\u2019m wondering if there\u2019s something else on his mind. \u201cAs you wish.\u201d I lever myself to my feet, my knees protesting from the slave girl position he insists on, my big, pregnant belly making me ungainly. I head over to the table he keeps constantly laden with food and start to pile up a plate.<\/p>\n

Pritan is a Grolix mercenary who controls this planetoid. They are a foul species, green skinned, covered with rolls of fat and with snouts and tusks that make them look like pigs. They are pigs, big, stinking pigs. I sneak a peek behind me, and unfortunately, he\u2019s staring at me with those lust-filled eyes again so I can\u2019t \u2018add\u2019 anything to his food.<\/p>\n

Instead, I carry the plate back over to him and offer it up with an unbalanced bow. \u201cYou\u2019re looking particularly delicious today.\u201d He bares his crooked, brown teeth at me and licks his lips. It\u2019s all I can do not to shudder. He puts out a hand and rubs it over my belly. \u201cParticularly delicious.\u201d He repeats. \u201cShame I\u2019m only supposed to keep you until you birth. Perhaps I might just have to have a little taste before you go\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

One of his guard bursts into the room, and I thank my lucky stars for the interruption. \u201cWhat the fuck to you want?\u201d Pritan grabs the plate out of my hands and throws himself back on his chair. \u201cMighty Pritan,\u201d his guard simpers at him, although there\u2019s a wildness about his eyes that means he\u2019s stumbling over the niceties Pritan insists on, even though he doesn\u2019t deserve them. \u201cThe Haalux are here.\u201d \u201cAnd?\u201d Pritan splutters with a mouthful of food, waving the Grolix equivalent of a chicken leg in the air.<\/p>\n
