The incredibly wet start to the year has surely prevented you from getting outside with your children very often, but as the days are getting longer and warmer, hopefully you can explore outdoor learning opportunities again. This issue includes several fun outdoor activities for you to try over the coming months, including a Broad Bean growing project from the award-winning authors of A Creative Approach to Teaching Science Outdoors, linked to British Science Week in March.

See pages 28 – 29 in this issue for more details and links to further resources to inspire you to incorporate science activities in your planning. There’s also a really simple, but clever project on harnessing the sun and using the shadows created by trees and shrubs to create unique works of art. The coming months offer wonderful opportunities to introduce various cultural festivals to your cohort, so we’ve provided you with inspirational ideas covering Holi, Eid, Passover, Nowruz and St Patrick’s Day, alongside the traditional Mother’s Day and Easter crafts.

This is a short excerpt from the opening of “” by Unknown, quoted for review and introduction purposes.
