\u200b\u201cNope, just other survivors. Mostly sharing info about larger groups of zoms moving about, or if we’ve had issues with other groups.\u201d Tank gives me a pointed look. \u200b\u201cWhat? I promise I haven’t had any run in’s recently,\u201d Wait, that almost feels like a lie. \u201cWell, I haven’t had any run in’s with groups. Just the occasional bad apple.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tank’s eyes narrow. \u201cNone, of your business. It’s been handled.\u201d I wave around the room, \u201cCan we get back to this?\u201d \u200bTank holds out for another few moments before giving in. \u201cFine. So, as I was saying we pass info around about zombies and other groups that might be an issue. Share info about where they might be able to find specific supplies that might be looking for.<\/p>\n

It was actually talking to someone from another group that helped us get our solar set up.\u201d \u200b\u201cThat’s awesome,\u201d I tell him with absolute sincerity. I’m hoping to have some solar set up in my future. Reliable warm showers would be awesome. \u200bTank gets a devious little smirk that I don’t trust at all. \u201cWe’ve also gotten regularly asked if we’ve seen a certain red-headed hellion.\u201d \u200bMy spine snaps taught. \u201cWho the hell has been asking about me and what did you say?\u201d \u200b\u201cGuy says his name is Koda and he’s desperate to find you because he thinks you might be the one,\u201d Tank tells me with relish.<\/p>\n

\u200b\u201cOh my god.\u201d My hands cover my face in absolute mortification. \u200b\u201cWant to tell me that story?\u201d \u200b\u201cWhat did you tell him about me?\u201d My words are a bit muffled from the hands still covering my face. \u200b\u201cStory first,\u201d Tank insists. \u200bUgh, he’s such an ass. He’s also a gossip. I slip my hands from my face and give him my best glare. \u201cYou swear you won’t tell anyone else?\u201d. \u200b\u201cOf course,\u201d he says, trying to look innocent and failing. \u200b\u201cI mean it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u200b\u201cFine,\u201d He places his hand over his heart, \u201cI swear not to repeat what you’re about to tell me.\u201d \u200b\u201cIf you do I will hunt you down and cut off your favorite body part.\u201d \u200bTank grimaces, having no doubt I am sincere in my threat.<\/p>\n

\u200bIt’s been a week. A looooong, boring week. I’ve been recovering for a week now at the school, surrounded by people. It’s driving me crazy. It’s not even like the place is absolutely packed to the brim. There’s just a bit over a hundred people holed up here, making what was an elementary school into their new home and sanctuary.<\/p>\n

That’s just a hundred more people than I’ve gotten used to dealing with on the regular. I have been doing my level best to avoid the majority of them. \u200bFor the most part I’ve spent the last few months by myself with only occasionally meeting up with other people. I’m used to being on my own. I’m used to silence. I’m used to not having snores keep me from freaking sleeping.<\/p>\n

\u200bEvery freaking night for the last week I’ve put up with that god awful snoring. Why don’t I just sleep in a different room far away from the snores? That’d be because my other main option is in a women’s bunk room that contains a woman who kind of hates my guts. I more or less return the sentiment.<\/p>\n

The woman in question, Brittany, cheated on her husband who happens to be my long time friend and former neighbor, Miguel. So, yeah, sharing a room with her wasn’t a real option unless the goal is to get one of us to kill the other. My money would be on me winning that round but for some reason others might have a problem with that scenario, what with the whole zombie apocalypse and every life mattering, blah blah blah.<\/p>\n

\u200bIn a bout of exhausted frustration I rip my pillow out from underneath my head and toss it at Theo. \u200b\u201cWhaa?\u201d The unintelligible question emerges as Theo pushes my pillow off his face. \u200b\u201cIf you don’t stop snoring I will smother you,\u201d I hiss at him. \u200bNo spoken acknowledgment, but Theo does roll over to sleep on his stomach. He only snores on his back, so you’d think he’d know better than to sleep on it. He seems to already be back asleep, thankfully not snoring.<\/p>\n

Only problem is that now I don’t have a pillow, it’s still over with Theo.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
