His eyes flicked to mine, mind racing. \u201cAelia\u2026 he\u2019s our way out.\u201d \u201cI mean\u2014maybe? I don\u2019t know how this world and our world connect.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we bring him back his son, he\u2019ll have to grant us a favor. We can use it to return to our world.\u201d I was skeptical to say the least, but I trusted Tharan, and it was the only plan we had. As we continued on our way, the sound of ruckus music echoed from beyond. \u201cIs that the rave?\u201d \u201cYes, Lysandra always loved to dance.\u201d \u201cTharan\u2026 what did you see in her?<\/p>\n

Was she like this when she was alive?\u201d Tharan took my hand in his. \u201cI think she was always power hungry. I think my love for her blinded me to it\u2026 and, I am ashamed to admit it, but part of that is what attracted me to her in the first place.\u201d I know the feeling,\u201d I said, squeezing his hand. His thumb brushed over my knuckles, a look of quiet gratitude passing between us. \u201cHer chambers are this way, I remember that much.<\/p>\n
