He couldn\u2019t imagine the terror the man must be feeling right now, for his son\u2019s safety, especially after the tragic loss of his wife and now this.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing her standing over his son\u2019s cot holding a pair of scissors, the horrors running through the man\u2019s mind, the possibilities, the what if\u2019s. Like Julian he had tried to consider all mental illnesses associated with the elderly as well, but nothing came even close to explaining how an elderly lady could achieve such feats as running up and down the stairs without causing serious harm. Her heart must have been on the verge of collapsing on her, let alone her hip. And when he had mentioned Julian\u2019s birth, that flinch, that twitch on her features, suggested a connection, yet one he couldn\u2019t begin to understand.<\/p>\n<p>Her focus seemed to be the toddler, Isaak, yet what the poor kid could possibly have done wrong he had no idea, only that he sensed a great evil emanating from the woman; a corruption oozing from her pores that had no place here, much less an old lady. It was something he had seen before, a long time ago, and which resulted in him working for the church now. He had sensed that same menace as he saw in Edna but on this occasion he had only been twelve- years-old.<\/p>\n<p>The memory was sketchy, his brain trying its utmost to rid the tumour from his memories but it still lingered nonetheless. He remembered visiting his cousin\u2019s house with his parents and being made to sit by himself on the sofa, while the rest of the family spoke in hushed tones in the kitchen, terror and uncertainty carved onto their features.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019d all then gone upstairs to where his cousin, Shane, was apparently confined to bed, unwell.
