She kicks it with the ball of her foot behind a joint. It does shiver a bit, but remains in position. Crossing her arms, she stands behind it and cocks her head to one side. \u201cWell, it\u2019s definitely sturdy. Why is this a prototype and not the finished product?\u201d IX answers instead of Taido\u2019sn. \u201cIt is the first of its kind, and made to my personal specifications. And, as Taido\u2019sn explained in so much technical jargon, it isn\u2019t really finished, either. There are multiple modifications that we will need to make once I\u2019ve transferred my program and memories.<\/p>\n

Plus, as Dzarvix has already mentioned, it is rather hideous to look at.\u201d Dez laughs, and I feel my fur bristle. Her laughter makes my whole body tingle and I want nothing more than to kneel at her feet and bask in her joy. My tail starts lashing in embarrassment when Tai gives me a knowing look. \u201cWhat do you want it to look like, then?<\/p>\n

Are you going to mimic some alien race or do something else?\u201d It\u2019s a really good question, and I\u2019m surprised I didn\u2019t think of it myself. I guess I\u2019d just assumed IX would look something like a standard droid. \u201cI was considering a skin similar to a dolomit\u2019n. They are somewhat rare, but not particularly interesting. I wouldn\u2019t arouse suspicion and no one would question my dense weight or my ability to travel in harsh environments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dez is frowning in confusion, so Taido\u2019sn waves his hands and brings up a picture of a dolomit\u2019n. I\u2019d completely forgotten about their race. IX is correct to say they\u2019re rare. The species has skin that looks like a gray, grainy sand stone. The skin is nearly as hard as stone, too, and deflects most kinds of radiation, making them difficult to scan.<\/p>\n

Their species rarely leave their world, and although intelligent, they don’t tend to use much technology. Most who do leave their planet are hired thugs. It\u2019s not a bad way to prevent unwanted attention. Their flat faces and lack of nose are also simple to mimic. Dez doesn\u2019t look very impressed. \u201cNot very attractive.\u201d Taido\u2019sn chuckles. \u201cNo, they are not. However, I do not believe that IX is overly concerned with attracting a mate, so this skin will serve him well enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

She shrugs. \u201cWhat about all the eyes?\u201d Taido\u2019sn brings up the diagram of the droid where the image of the dolomit\u2019n had been.<\/p>\n
