The motifs and designs generally seen such as symbols of birds, floral designs, animals, ornamental designs and several other intricate figures in the Indian textiles; and motifs like conch, elephant, peacock, parrot, fish, etc. are quite common in Indian Textiles (Kishore, N., 2013). Thus, motif is undoubtedly the result of natural surroundings, customs, social beliefs, and religion of that area to which its creator belongs.

Motifs are symbolism and reflection of belief which may vary from one region to another, but they are all interconnected with the same essence; and signs and symbols endure the intrinsic beauty of motifs (Prajapati, P., 2021). Previous research studies in this area identify key themes such as the symbolic use of the lotus as a cosmic emblem of creation and purity, and the paisley (ambi) motif as a fusion of floral and seed imagery symbolizing fertility; and most of the studies have focused on individual traditions rather than comparative regional analysis.

Therefore, the present study endeavours to fill this gap by presenting an inclusive summary of floral motifs across India. The grounds, growth, and effect of floral motifs in Indian textiles are examined in this study via all-inclusive and graphic methodology. With an importance on their association to religious beliefs, ethnic customs, and artistic expression, the study analyses the historical development of floral patterns from the Vedic era through the Gupta and Mughal dynasties. The information gathered has been sourced from various secondary sources such as books, academic journals , magazines, and reliable online references.

Documented and figurative study was done to understand the metaphorical meanings of floral motifs. This research aims to understand and examine the connection between nature and human psyche through floral design as a form of creative self expression. To understand the cultural and creative oppression of floral motifs in traditional and present day Indian textiles the methodology highlights observation, documentation, and interpretation.

This book examines the transformative role of design, art and media in a rapidly changing global landscape.
