I smiled back and walked off. Wendy\u2019s Wink and Wax wasn\u2019t your average salon. This place was upscale and bougie. The spot where you could get your lashes done, your brows waxed, your hair laid, a full body massage, and a facial all in one visit. The lobby had floor-to-ceiling windows, letting in natural light. Soft instrumental music played through hidden speakers. The walls were painted a soft cream color with gold accents. Big plants, lush green ones, scattered everywhere, giving it that tropical spa vibe. To the left was the main salon area.<\/p>\n

Women sitting in chairs getting their hair blow-dried, flat-ironed, or braided. The smell of hair products and expensive perfume lingered in the air. To the right was the wax and lash bar. Private rooms with doors, soft lighting, and those fancy chairs that recline all the way back. But the new addition, where I was going, was the spa zone in the back.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s where they installed the new sweat room. And that\u2019s also where I was meeting Raven and Envy. I pushed through a set of frosted glass doors, and the vibe changed. Calmer and quieter back here. The lighting was a dim, soft amber glow from recessed lights in the ceiling. Heated tile floors felt warm under my feet. Lockers lining one wall, a vanity area with mirrors and skincare products, and a door labeled SHOWERS. I could hear the faint hum of the sauna and the soft trickle of water from somewhere nearby.<\/p>\n

Maybe a fountain or something. I found an open locker, stripped down, wrapped myself in one of the plush white robes hanging inside, then headed toward Room 3: Sweat Room. Time to sweat out this stress and catch up with my girls. \u201cIt\u2019s getting hot in here! So, take off all your clothes!\u201d I sang the lyrics out loud, doing a two-step dance and pushing the door open to the sweat room.<\/p>\n
