There\u2019s a lot of dangers there that we have to look out for.\u201d Taj says, and a growl vibrates through my chest. “Really?\u201d Dylan asks again, this time his voice is a little too shaky for my liking.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat kind of dangers?\u201d \u201cI know we encountered feline shifters there when you sent us to scout,\u201d Gabriel says. \u201cAnd large pack of rogues, a horde of pixies, and a moody bunch of centaurs.\u201d Hunter says, I can almost see the dramatic way he shivers when disgusted. Taj hums, seeming to agree. \u201cNot to mention, human hunters frequent that area. And the other silver river packs that surround it won\u2019t be happy about our presence there.\u201d “Oh, that\u2019s right.\u201d Cassius quickly agrees.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe almost found ourselves in the middle of a war on our way here.\u201d I huff. Dylan is getting spanked for this one. There\u2019s nothing he can do to stop it. He\u2019s getting punished. “Well, since you all know the area better than I do, I\u2019ll trust that you\u2019ll get us through as safely as you can,\u201d Dylan reassures. \u201cGabe and Taj, you two can lead the way. Hunter and Cassius, I want you two to make sure we have everything we need if we do have to defend ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

My ears perk up when I hear chairs slide across the hardwood floors. \u201cLet\u2019s get some sleep. We\u2019ve got a big day tomorrow.” Hearing that, my eyes widen and I pull away from the door to rush back to Dylan’s room the fastest my feet can take me. I practically dive onto the bed after shutting the door, doing my best to make it seem like I\u2019m still sleeping.<\/p>\n
