My rose-colored cheeks embraced my smile as I shook my head. \u201cThis is a safe space. I don\u2019t care if you can\u2019t dance. We just want to loosen you up a bit. Jump around and clear your mind. It\u2019s cardio!\u201d Doing a little body shake, he said. \u201cLet go.\u201d \u201cI can dance!\u201d I challenged his assumption. \u201cProve it.\u201d He replied with a wide grin, challenging me back.<\/p>\n

Closing my eyes, I let my body react to the music. A sway turned into a shimmy that turned into a turn that led me in front of Jeremy, his hands on my waist as I wound my body to the beat. He was right, It felt good to let loose and dance. It felt even better to be wrapped in the arms of this beautiful man.<\/p>\n

Maybe it felt too good, I thought, walking backward to put some space between us. \u201cOkay, so you can dance. I stand corrected.\u201d Jeremy\u2019s smile lit up his handsome face. \u201cI told you! I haven\u2019t danced like that in, I don\u2019t know how long.\u201d my smile, now slightly breathless, widened. \u201cHey, have you been to a dance club?\u201d He paused, a little more serious now. \u201cOf course, I have been to a nightclub before,\u201d I replied. \u201cNot a nightclub, a dance club.<\/p>\n

This is grown and sexy, elevated and exclusive.\u201d \u201cI have no idea what you\u2019re talking about.\u201d I was intrigued. \u201cWell, my friend is hosting a dance club this weekend. You should come with me,\u201d he said casually. \u201cI\u2019m married,\u201d I replied with a slight panic in my tone and took a step back. \u201cI know.\u201d His half-smile was innocent and charming at the same time. \u201cI can\u2019t date you because I\u2019m married.\u201d I took another step backward even though there was plenty of space between us. \u201cMariah, this is just two people who enjoy each other\u2019s company in a professional setting going out into the world and seeing if they enjoy each other\u2019s company in a casual setting.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not a date, it\u2019s a hang with a couple hundred other people.\u201d \u201cWell, I still don\u2019t know if it\u2019s appropriate. Can I think about it?\u201d<\/p>\n
