It\u2019s too dangerous. Instead of shaking with anger, I\u2019m now trembling with excitement, but he\u2019ll mistake it for nerves.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy are you helping me?\u201d I ask. \u201cIsn\u2019t it obvious?\u201d He stares at me, and there\u2019s sincerity in his gaze. I look to the side quickly and then shake my head. \u201cNo.\u201d He swallows, and his expression changes. \u201cI hate Seok, and I want you to be indebted to me.\u201d It wasn\u2019t what he was going to say. My mind floods with what else he could mean. But it doesn\u2019t matter. We take a few steps toward the doors. \u201cPlay the game, Sora,\u201d Rune says.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd lock your lips with Tiyung if it comes down to it.\u201d My stomach drops, as does my jaw. Just the other day, I\u2019d thought about sending Tiyung\u2019s decapitated head in a basket to the Count. But something about the western count suggesting his death isn\u2019t right, either. Still, I allow Rune to escort me back into the villa, because he said something that could change my stars.<\/p>\n

I walk in and pretend everything is okay. I sit and smile and eat dinner as if I\u2019m hungry.<\/p>\n
