I was shocked to hear you planned to move out, why didn\u2019t you tell me you were planning to find your own place?\u201d he says, taking me by complete surprise. \u201cHuh?\u201d I ask, not understanding what he\u2019s asking about right now. \u201cWasn\u2019t this the plan from the beginning?\u201d I take a step back to fully look at all of him, rubbing the remnants of my tears away with my jacket. \u201cI, ah, we never really talked about that, but I, uhm, I don\u2019t want you to move out,\u201d he tells me, the tops of his cheeks tinging red, as though he\u2019s embarrassed.<\/p>\n

What? \u201cBut there is going to be a baby here soon. She\u2019s going to be loud, things are going to change\u2014\u201d I start, but he interrupts me. \u201cI don\u2019t care. She\u2019s fucking welcome, too,\u201d he says, coming back to me and holding onto my belly, which he does quite often since the first night I cried in his arms and she kicked him.<\/p>\n

As if she knows it\u2019s him, she starts kicking against his hand, and he circles her tiny feet, while making me a sweaty mess in heat right underneath his palm. He doesn\u2019t fucking know what effect he has on me. It\u2019s not only turning my heart into mush, it\u2019s also turning me the fuck on when he touches me like that.<\/p>\n

\u201cMason,\u201d I try again, but he shakes his head. \u201cI promised you I will keep you safe. You and Lilly, both.\u201d His hand leaves my stomach and wanders to my neck, pulling me in for a hug, cradling my head as I feel the hard ridges of his muscles in my face. \u201cYou don\u2019t have to do this alone.
