Long red hair and beard. Was purchasing the largest flagon of alcohol I think I\u2019ve ever seen. Was almost as big as him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Branik chuffed and nodded, a smile breaking out. \u201cDoesn\u2019t ring a bell, but that be great dwarven action right there. Might be we should meet them before long.\u201d That sounded pretty messy. While Branik\u2019s mind was on this other dwarf, Domal spoke up, his voice softer. \u201cHow \u2019bout yerselves? Why are ya here?\u201d \u201cPolitics,\u201d Kalia revealed, giving me a little extra time to think.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the conglomerate took over my planet.\u201d The dwarves all nodded in understanding. I\u2019d only met a few of the conglomerate so far, if the velusum counted, and then there was the red- horned woman here and the cloaked guards we\u2019d seen on the islands and at the market. Were they a part, too? \u201cAnd you, Noah?\u201d Domal continued, fidgeting in place. Ah, to hell with it. \u201cI\u2019m not supposed to be here,\u201d I revealed. \u201cWrong place, wrong time.\u201d Branik perked up at that.<\/p>\n

The dwarf grinned and nudged his brother in the ribs. \u201cAh-ha. He be innocent.\u201d He air quoted, and I shook my head and shrugged as both brothers laughed, Domal finally relaxing. \u201cBelieve what you will.\u201d Branik continued to laugh, having to hold his side at one point, but the questions stopped, so I left it there, choosing instead to take a drink from my canteen.<\/p>\n

If that was all I had to reveal, that was fine with me. They clearly didn\u2019t believe me, but that sounded like a them problem. \u201cShall we work out a watch schedule then?\u201d I asked. We\u2019d finished eating, and all of us needed rest before we tried to finish off this latest zone tomorrow. \u201cI be needing sleep,\u201d Branik declared, his words a little slurred from the potent alcohol he\u2019d thrown back since we\u2019d settled here. \u201cI\u2019m happy to take the first one,\u201d I admitted. \u201cDomal, you want to join me?\u201d<\/p>\n

The younger brother nodded. \u201cSure, Noah. I be happy to.\u201d \u201cOK.<\/p>\n

Fumbling around in the twisted bed sheets, I sent my phone crashing to the bedroom floor, somehow managing to find the only section not currently covered in discarded clothes or half-filled moving boxes. Groaning in frustration, I threw back the sheets, leaned over, and picked it up from the wooden floor, the knuckles on my right hand tender and sore as I clenched my fist around it.<\/p>\n

Squinting at the screen, 3:00 pm glared back at me as I silenced the alarm with a sigh. Already? It felt like I\u2019d only just closed my eyes. Last night had been the latest finish yet since starting my new job, and by the time I\u2019d gotten back home from the bar and wound down, the sun was already coming up.<\/p>\n

I was due back in at five, so I\u2019d left it as long as I could before getting up and still being able to make it there in time for my shift. It still didn\u2019t feel long enough. I ran my hands over my eyes a couple of times, wiping away all thoughts of further sleep.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
