\u201cLet\u2019s sneak over there and see what he\u2019s up to.\u201d \u201cBe careful girls,\u201d Gwen whispered. Kirsty and Rachel ducked behind the table next to Jack Frost. He slammed down the book and frowned. \u201cIf this book won\u2019t make my wishes come true, then my goblins will!\u201d he cried. He clapped his hands, motioning four green goblins toward him. The goblins were all dressed as fairy tale animals, so the girls hadn\u2019t immediately noticed them in the crowd of kids.<\/p>\n

One was dressed as a bear, one as a cat, one as a wolf, and one as a mouse. \u201cI want to use all this stuff to make a beautiful princess dress. Once I\u2019m dressed like Beauty, this book will have to obey me!\u201d said Jack Frost. \u201cI need some glitter. Glitter, come to me!\u201d The goblins looked at one another and scratched their heads. \u201cI want the glitter to magically come to me,\u201d Jack Frost growled. \u201cThat means one of you needs to go get it for me!\u201d<\/p>\n

The goblin dressed as a cat nodded and ran to find glitter. He knocked over a box of feathers in the process, and they flew all over the ballroom. \u201cYarn, come to me!\u201d Jack Frost yelled, and the goblin dressed as a bear leaped up, looking for yarn. He ran up to a boy holding a ball of green yarn and grabbed it right out of his hands. \u201cHey!\u201d cried the boy. \u201cFeathers, come to me! Ribbons, come to me!\u201d Jack Frost yelled, and the other two goblins jumped into action.<\/p>\n

The one dressed as a mouse tried to grab the feathers that were floating in the air. He bumped into a nearby table, and tubs of paint and glue crashed to the ground. The goblin dressed as a wolf hurried up to a girl holding a long blue ribbon. He took it right from her! \u201cGive that back!\u201d the girl yelled. The ballroom quickly descended into noisy chaos as kids and goblins started to argue.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh dear,\u201d whispered Gwen. \u201cThis is a disaster!\u201d Kirsty turned to Rachel. \u201cWe have to stop Jack Frost and his goblins before this gets any worse!\u201d Rachel nodded. The girls stood up\u2014and found themselves staring right into the face of the mouse goblin. \u201cHey, it\u2019s those girls!\u201d the goblin called out. \u201cGet them!\u201d Jack Frost yelled. Kirsty grabbed Rachel\u2019s hand. \u201cRun!\u201d she cried. OceanofPDF.com The mouse goblin lunged for them and then tripped over a spilled bag of fuzzy pom-poms.<\/p>\n

The other three goblins charged after them from across the room. \u201cThey\u2019re so fast!\u201d Rachel cried, looking over her shoulder. Kirsty quickly pulled her behind a big bin of fabric. \u201cBut the goblins will find us here,\u201d Rachel said. Kirsty grinned. \u201cNot if we put on a disguise.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThese Peter Pancakes are delicious!\u201d \u201cAnd so is this Fairyland Fruit Salad,\u201d agreed her friend, Rachel Walker. The two girls were in the big dining room at Tiptop Castle. The tables were filled with boys and girls who had come for the Fairy Tale Festival. Each day, the festival organizers had fun activities planned for them.<\/p>\n

Just being in the castle was like living inside a fairy tale. The meals were served on pretty silver plates, and all the food had a fairy tale theme. The Peter Pancakes were shaped like fairy wings. The Fairyland Fruit Salad came in a crystal goblet with a tall stem. Kirsty sighed. \u201cI wish this festival never had to end,\u201d she said, taking another bite of pancake. A hush came over the room as Amy, one of the organizers, stood up. She was dressed as a princess in a pink dress with a pointy pink hat on top of her blond curls.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood morning, fairy tale fans!\u201d she began. \u201cWe have a very exciting event planned tonight. It\u2019s the Creature Costume Party!\u201d The kids all began to whisper excitedly. \u201cThere are many marvelous creatures in fairy tales,\u201d Amy said. \u201cUnicorns, dragons, talking bears\u2014the possibilities are endless. We have set up the ballroom with all the supplies you will need to make your costumes for tonight. So have fun, and use your imaginations.<\/p>\n

There will be prizes for the best costumes!\u201d Kirsty turned to Rachel. \u201cIt\u2019s fun that we get to make our own costumes!\u201d Rachel nodded. \u201cI know. What do you think we should be?\u201d \u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d Kirsty frowned. \u201cA unicorn would be fun.\u201d \u201cI bet a lot of people are going to be unicorns,\u201d said Rachel, looking thoughtful. \u201cTo win a prize, we should be something really different.<\/p>\n

Like a \u2026 a griffin!\u201d \u201cWhat\u2019s a griffin?\u201d asked Kirsty. \u201cIt\u2019s a half-lion, half-eagle,\u201d Rachel said. \u201cA griffin sounds interesting,\u201d Kirsty agreed. \u201cOr maybe we could be some kind of sea serpent!\u201d \u201cWe should look at the fairy tale books in the reading room,\u201d Rachel suggested. \u201cI\u2019m sure we\u2019ll find some good ideas there.\u201d \u201cThat sounds like a great plan,\u201d Kirsty said. Then Rachel looked around the dining room.<\/p>\n
