He watched me with a weird smile on his face, and I almost returned it since I was feeling pretty good about myself. \u201cI guess he couldn\u2019t,\u201d Bugz finally said, and as if we were both waiting for her approval, Hammer and I hi-fived each other. \u201cNow we just have to find Everard,\u201d Bugz said. \u201cThat\u2019s going to be a problem,\u201d Hammer said halfheartedly. But a spark flew in my mind, and I was almost positive that it was the solution.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to give up on feeling him right now,\u201d I breathed. That definitely wasn\u2019t going to work. \u201cWait, Everard is your Lord?\u201d Bugz said. \u201cYeah\u2026\u201d Hammer whispered with a shrug. \u201cBut\u2026but I don\u2019t get it. Why are you here?\u201d she asked, standing up from her seat. \u201cShe doesn\u2019t feel him at all.<\/p>\n

Doesn\u2019t feel compelled to be by him,\u201d Hammer explained, and again, I wondered if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Well, for the situation at hand, at least. \u201cWhat kind of a freak are you?\u201d she said with a wondrous smile on her face, a smile that I hated. I was a freak, but she didn\u2019t have to rub it in.<\/p>\n

\u201cA born one,\u201d I said. \u201cThen how the hell are we hoping to find him if she can’t feel him?\u201d she asked, completely ignorant to the way I was watching her. \u201cBoston. We find him in Boston,\u201d I said. \u201cThey caught him, right? And I\u2019m ready to bet that they caught him because he wanted them to.<\/p>\n

He had something he wanted in the ROB building. But, if we go back there and enter their files, we can find exactly where they caught him.\u201d \u201cOf course!\u201d Hammer shouted. \u201cIt will be a great starting point. Once we know the place, we can bet that wherever he is, it will be near.\u201d \u201cWe go there and we investigate. There must be someone who has seen him or heard something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shadows moved\u2014real, or just a figment of my imagination\u2014like they always did. And I watched them, afraid to even let my breath come out with a sound, no matter how small, like I always did. The feeling of being watched was always there, settling in the pit of my stomach, the second the moon took on the dark sky.<\/p>\n

I sat and waited for whatever it was, all by myself, swallowing the fear that turned into a ball in my throat. When it got too much, I sometimes pretended I was with someone up there. Anyone. A friend. What an illusion. No one wanted to talk to me.<\/p>\n

I was a freak. I\u2019d been a freak among the normal. And I continued to be among the homeless and the junkies in the streets. I would have made my mother proud. So, alone I stood, and alone I looked at the darkness ahead. At what was left of the city of Boston. There wasn\u2019t much. The Massachusetts Bay stretched forward, as dark as the sky.<\/p>\n

I could see all of it, yet there was nothing to see. I was in the Howling Building, at least fifty feet above ground. It used to be a church.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
