He rolls his eyes then leans in, right down over her where she perches on the bed, placing his hands on the mattress either side of her hips and lowering his voice. \u201cLike you\u2019re not thinking about it right now\u2026\u201d She whimpers, and her body gives a shudder, the tiny whispered \u201cplease,\u201d falling from her lips before she can stop it.<\/p>\n

He seizes her by the neck so fast she is sitting one moment and pinned flat on her back the next, her breath catching in her throat as he squeezes. \u201cYou did say I could choke you after all,\u201d he growls, smirking down into her shocked face. He inhales deeply, nostrils flaring, and gives a groan.<\/p>\n

\u201cFuck, you smell even better than you did in court today\u2026\u201d Her eyes widen beneath him, she gasps in a short mouthful of as much air as she can, and tries not to squirm. She\u2019s half aware that his words hold a certain importance, but in that moment Cara is too preoccupied with her body\u2019s needs to think on it.<\/p>\n

She means to tell him to get off her. She\u2019s certain that\u2019s what she intends\u2026 but he squeezes her throat a little harder, forcing her knees apart so he can step between them, and when she opens her mouth all that tumbles out is another pathetically squeaked, \u201cplease!\u201d His triumphant smirk widens. Dammit – this was exactly why she didn\u2019t want to do this with someone she knew!<\/p>\n

This was Donovan – the absolute last person in the universe she should ever want this way, and already her body was screaming at her to beg him for his knot.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has every relevance, Mr. Donovan.\u201d Cara states calmly. \u201cThey were there the following week.\u201d \u201cBy which time the defendant had already fled!\u201d The judge narrows her eyes, looking between the two lawyers closely. \u201cOverruled,\u201d she decides, and Cara has to stop herself smirking. Or sticking her tongue out at her opponent.<\/p>\n

God, why did he always make her want to act like a child? The judge points her gavel at the defence. \u201cContinue, Miss Vander.\u201d Cara tosses her shoulder length red hair back smugly as she turns to face the jury again. \u201cThank you, your honour. So, as I was saying, the marks found in the premises were in line with the earlier evidence – this confirms what we already know, that Mr. Brown can\u2019t have been at the scene of the crime during that time frame, because -\u201d \u201c\u2026Because?\u201d<\/p>\n

Her opponent prompts when she cuts off abruptly and stands frozen at the front of the court. \u201cForgot your argument? Oh, that\u2019s right – you don\u2019t have one,\u201d he proclaims smugly, but Cara isn\u2019t listening to his words, she isn\u2019t paying attention to anything else in the courtroom in that second because all she can focus on is the sharp cramps in her stomach, and the sudden burning ache she can feel the beginning between her thighs. She\u2019s going into heat.<\/p>\n
