Yuri scowls at me. \u201cThanks, friend.\u201d \u201cI\u2019m not your friend,\u201d I growl back. \u201cYou\u2019re a pain in the ass is what you are,\u201d he says, following Isabella to the bar. I want to tell him that Isabella is mine. I want to tell him that she\u2019s already chosen me. I want to say that I\u2019m fucking her every night, and there\u2019s no room in that equation for him. But I realize that my feelings and internal dialogue are coming perilously close to boyfriend territory, so I take a deep breath, determined to keep my feelings in check.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey, there.\u201d I whip around to find Marcia Brady from Team Brady standing behind me. I haven\u2019t had a chance to speak to her one-on-one outside of the race yet. But I know she\u2019s doing well. She and her brother have been maintaining a spot in the middle of the pack since the first challenge.<\/p>\n

\u201cHi.\u201d She grins at me. \u201cWant to buy me a drink?\u201d No, I think. Not really. As I face her, I realize she reminds me of my little sisters, Parker and Reeve, which makes me feel unexpectedly protective. I tilt my head to the side. \u201cHow old are\u2014I mean, are you even legal?\u201d \u201cYep. As of last month.\u201d \u201cNewly minted twenty-one? You\u2019re a baby.\u201d \u201cTwenty-one isn\u2019t a baby. I\u2019m fully grown, and I can prove it\u2026if you want,\u201d she says, taking my hand and pulling me over to the bar before I can slow her down.<\/p>\n

She squeezes between Yuri and another crew member, ordering two shots of tequila. When she turns around, she offers one to me with a pretty smile. \u201cWhat are we drinking to?\u201d Isabella, who\u2019s standing on the other side of Yuri, leans around him to catch my eye. She glances at Marcia with annoyance, then slides her eyes back to me.<\/p>\n

Turnabout\u2019s fair play, sweetheart, I think, picturing Yuri\u2019s hand on her lower back a few minutes ago and the way she rolled her eyes at my objection. \u201cLet\u2019s drink to you,\u201d I say, winking at Marcia for Isabella\u2019s benefit. \u201cI hope you get to the end.\u201d \u201cMe too,\u201d she says, throwing back the gold liquid with a wince. \u201cOooo! Yuck! That was strong! Want another?\u201d \u201cHe doesn\u2019t.\u201d Isabella is suddenly standing beside me, her hands on her hips, her posture saying that Marcia should probably take off her hoop earrings if she\u2019s planning to keep talking to me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he can decide for himself,\u201d Marcia says defiantly, tossing her hair and flagging down the bartender. \u201cTwo more shots, please.\u201d \u201cSure. Okay,\u201d says Isabella, her voice dancing on the edge of dangerous. She turns to me, her eyes arresting mine. \u201cDecide, Casanova.\u201d Dayyyum. This is hot as fuck.<\/p>\n
