This was the sweetest thing a potential lover had ever done for her. Now she knew what Myrum had asked Gis to do and why they had an assigned room. Myrum stepped up behind her, pressing his front against her back. With the door opened, Ruby scurried into the room and disappeared under the bed. Amina heard a crunch, more skittering, and then another crunch. There was a final crunch, and she emerged from under the bed with a satisfied look.<\/p>\n

All the romance of the moment disappeared. \u201cNo,\u201d Amina moaned. \u201cShe was hunting bugs. There are bugs in here.\u201d \u201cNot any longer,\u201d Myrum said with an amused rumble. She turned to face him. \u201cThat was a joke! You\u2019re joking; that\u2019s great.\u201d Myrum knelt next to her and picked up Ruby. Cradling the colorful creature in his big hands, he remained on his knees and looked up at her. \u201cI didn\u2019t lose myself,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember everything, even if it\u2019s a little hazy.\u201d Amina sank to her knees in front of him. \u201cYou did really good. You fought well, and you\u2019re probably the only reason Gis is still alive. I\u2019m impressed.\u201d He let out another amused rumble. \u201cCompared to you, my accomplishments are meager.<\/p>\n

You managed to knock out two Ossisos all by yourself. How did you accomplish that?\u201d \u201cI\u2019ve got some hidden talents,\u201d she deflected. \u201cI felt a little guilty for making you deal with the bigger group, but my limit is two at a time.\u201d \u201cYou shouldn\u2019t have had to deal with any of them,\u201d Myrum said with a grumble. All of Amina’s earlier anger reemerged. \u201cStupid, idiotic, secretive, badly- organized Annexers!\u201d Suddenly she wanted to leave and find someone to yell at. That was a bad idea because she didn\u2019t want to mess up whatever Gis had going on, but damn, she was aggravated.<\/p>\n

Between the adrenaline from the fight, concern over Myrum, and renewed irritation, Amina had a lot of energy, but she knew where to put it. Rising up on her knees, she grabbed the back of Myrum\u2019s head and pulled his face close to hers. \u201cI need to fuck you,\u201d she said. \u201cI need it to be rough, energetic, and all consuming.<\/p>\n
