Maybe Glen? Sora? My heart does a nervous flutter at the thought that Jonah might be there, too, but then sinks at the memory of our most recent interaction. A fancy dinner sounds like the perfect distraction from the steaming pile of shit that is currently my life right now. And it\u2019s an excuse to wear my strappy, bright yellow heels\u2014the ones Katelyn keeps telling me are \u201ctoo loud\u201d for the camera and conveniently go with none of the outfits she pulls for me.<\/p>\n

A shiver of excitement races up my spine as I think about dressing up tonight. Not that I\u2019m not usually wearing beautiful clothing on-camera, but those outfits are never really \u201cme.\u201d They always feel too subdued and modern, whereas my style is more about drawing eyes immediately and keeping them there for as long as possible. I make my way to the closet in the primary bedroom and yank hangers across the metal bar until I get to the dress I\u2019m thinking about.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a skin- tight, short velvet dress with long sleeves. A simple design\u2014but the colors splashed across the black velvet are like paint. Bright blues and yellows dominate the canvas, with little speckles of hot pink throughout. But then my eye catches on its twin. I loved the cut so much I bought the dress in two prints\u2014this colorful one, and another in cheetah.<\/p>\n

I consider them side-by-side. Pulling out the two dresses to lay them on the bed, I consider my options. I could go tonight dressed as a peacock\u2014resplendent, ostentatious\u2026prey. Or I could be the predator. The first dress is bold in the way I usually like to be, with so much color that I don\u2019t know where to look. But the other dress\u2026 It\u2019s bold in a different way.<\/p>\n
