I shook my head, set the phone aside, and joined them in the kitchen. My attention immediately fixated on the scene unfolding before me. Ibrahim leaned casually against the counter, his laughter echoing through the room in response to my dad\u2019s joke. The sound was infectious, and his deep chuckles filled the air. His black pants outlined his legs, subtly revealing his muscular thighs. The red turtleneck he wore complemented his biceps and chest surprisingly well. Ibrahim usually opted for loose- fitting attire, so seeing him in this outfit and the one from last night felt like a rare, almost forbidden treat.<\/p>\n

Normally, Muscles and giants were never my thing but right now, my preferences felt like they might be shifting. \u201cLook who decided to show up after we\u2019ve finished making everything,\u201d Pap\u00e1 remarked as he placed freshly made empanadas next to his Pan de Pascua\u2014a Chilean holiday cake, while the honey-glazed chicken was still baking in the oven. \u201cPerfection takes time, Pap\u00e1,\u201d I teased, noticing Ibrahim was given a task to prepare mashed potatoes.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course it does,\u201d he replied, walking over to me. \u201cYou look adorable.\u201d \u201cThank you. Wonder who picked out that amazing shirt that brings out your eyes,\u201d I playfully teased, my heart swelling at the sight of him wearing the Christmas gift I had given him. \u201cWe\u2019re sock twins!\u201d Pap\u00e1 exclaimed, drawing everyone\u2019s attention to the pink banana socks Ibrahim had gotten us. Pap\u00e1 was about to say something more when his phone rang, and he cursed. \u201cJoder\u2013\u201d I raised a brow at him, he cleared his throat to stop himself from cursing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll be right back, you two can set up the table,\u201d Pap\u00e1 instructed us before hurrying off to take the call. \u201cIs he always that deep in work?\u201d Ibrahim asked, settling the mashed potatoes onto the counter. I took a deep breath and looked at Ibrahim. \u201cNo, just on the holidays sometimes. Traffic on NexusVerse gets high and such. I think the standby team just has to check with him first before going up the chair further,\u201d I explained.<\/p>\n

This had been our routine for a few years, and it never really bothered me much since the calls never took up too much of his time. But the recent addition of meetings was throwing me off a bit.<\/p>\n
