When I was doing my National Service I obtained from Betram Rota the four Richards col- lections of Kai Lung stories in beautiful uniform bindings by Riviere; and they, along with eight volumes of The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, helped me through two years of extremely inactive service.<\/p>\n
