Then there are other things, such as one of them spending the thirty days before their wedding at the other person\u2019s house, either with or without the family. \u201cThen why have the contract?\u201d \u201cWell, I think in part for tradition. It\u2019s something we\u2019ve practiced for generations. It has a proven track record. There are very few divorces in my family. I can probably count them on one hand. The contracts serve the purpose of aligning compatibility, don\u2019t they? Another reason is partially in response to the rights to shares in the family business. Trusts and estates and whatever. You can hand over a whole lot of shit to a person once they turn eighteen, and there\u2019s a big probability that they\u2019ll waste it or lose it by the time they\u2019re thirty.<\/p>\n
