The ocean views would\u2019ve been just as nice through a layer of glass.<\/p>\n

\u201cTechnically, the bird is outside,\u201d Sebastian pointed out. \u201cDon\u2019t make me put you in sex jail during our honeymoon,\u201d I said. \u201cLook at it. It\u2019s spying on us.\u201d The hummingbird had been laser focused on us the entire time. It hopped from one leg to the other, its eyes tracking my movements with unnerving intensity as I reached for my nightgown on the floor. I was naked under the covers, and being naked in front of a strange animal seemed far too vulnerable.<\/p>\n

Sebastian and I had, ahem, discarded our clothes haphazardly after dinner last night, but thank god my nightgown was close enough for me to\u2060\u2014 The flutter of wings filled the air right as my fingers grazed my nightgown. \u201cAaaaahhh!\u201d Another scream tore from my throat as the bird took flight and zoomed toward me with what I swore was malicious determination on its little feathered face.<\/p>\n

I dove under the covers and pulled them over my head. My heart crashed against my ribcage as another, even more nightmarish image of the hummingbird somehow swelling to Jurassic-like proportions and carrying me off in its giant talons filled my head. A part of me knew I was being irrational, and I even knew why I might be more anxious than usual, but that didn\u2019t matter.<\/p>\n

Sebastian rolled over onto his side and groaned.
