You have to be able to hope for the things you want,\u201d Fallon said, her gaze drifting to the bar where Andi and Riley were giggling. \u201cJust remember that sometimes what you think will make you happiest turns out to be different from what you expected,\u201d she said. \u201cNow, tell me about this Mia.\u201d<\/p>\n

Riley startled when her phone buzzed. She took a deep breath. \u201cIt\u2019s Beth,\u201d she said, answering the call. Silence instantly replaced laughter and chatter. Fallon looked over at the bar. I hope it\u2019s good news. \u201cHi,\u201d Riley said. \u201cYou can breathe,\u201d Beth said. \u201cMarge is headed to recovery. Dale is strutting around like a peacock.<\/p>\n

Peter James Madigan weighed in at seven pounds, three ounces.\u201d Riley exhaled, a brilliant smile curling her lips. \u201cHold on,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m going to put you on speaker. Go ahead.\u201d \u201cMarge and the baby are both doing fine. Peter James arrived at 8:29. Marge is on her way to recovery.\u201d A collective sigh of relief was quickly followed by a round of shouted congratulations. Riley put the phone back to her ear and stepped away from the bar.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re a little excited,\u201d she explained. \u201cWho is the they?\u201d Beth asked, giggling. \u201cThe whole town?\u201d \u201cClose,\u201d Riley said. \u201cWe decided we\u2019d wait for your call at Murphy\u2019s.\u201d \u201cHow many people are sleeping at your house?\u201d \u201cBesides your kids?\u201d Riley quipped. \u201cPete and I can pick them up.\u201d \u201cNo,\u201d Riley said. \u201cI know it\u2019s been a stressful night for him. You two should spend some time alone.\u201d \u201cRiley.\u201d \u201cYou can pick the kids up whenever you want. Somehow, I think it might be good for you to have tonight with Pete.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s worried about Evan.\u201d Riley\u2019s eyes drifted to the booth where Evan and Fallon were sitting. Evan was laughing. \u201cI think Evan is okay.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrandma is already here.\u201d \u201cYep.\u201d \u201cOwen, what do you mean, Grandma is coming?\u201d \u201cWith Momma.\u201d Riley rubbed her eyes. \u201cMomma!\u201d Fallon walked through the door. \u201cThat\u2019s me.\u201d She handed Riley a cup of coffee. \u201cDid you fall back to sleep?\u201d \u201cBack to sleep?\u201d Riley questioned. \u201cRiley, I told you I was going to get coffee.\u201d \u201cYou did?\u201d \u201cYou really were tired.\u201d Andi strolled into the room. \u201cHey.\u201d \u201cAndi?\u201d Andi looked down at herself. \u201cI think so.\u201d \u201cWhat are you doing here?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGood morning to you, too,\u201d Andi poked. \u201cDid you forget we agreed I\u2019d come spend the morning here?\u201d \u201cHow many Mai Tais did I drink?\u201d Riley asked. \u201cA few,\u201d Fallon said. \u201cHungover?\u201d \u201cNo. Fuzzy, though,\u201d Riley confessed. \u201cThe coffee should help,\u201d Fallon said. She grabbed her suitcase. \u201cGoing somewhere?\u201d Riley asked. \u201cYeah, to meet Billie.\u201d \u201cDid we all agree to this last night?\u201d<\/p>\n

Riley asked. \u201cWe did,\u201d Fallon replied. \u201cAnd I was there?\u201d Andi laughed. She held out her hand for Owen. \u201cWhat do you say you and I take a walk down to the beach?\u201d Owen jumped into Andi\u2019s arms. \u201cI guess that\u2019s a yes.\u201d Riley started to protest. \u201cAndi.\u201d \u201cFallon,\u201d Andi began. \u201cWould you get Owen\u2019s shoes on?\u201d she requested. \u201cCome on, buddy.\u201d Andi took a seat on the edge of the bed. \u201cAre you okay?\u201d \u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d \u201cYou were a little upset last night.\u201d<\/p>\n

Riley sighed with regret. \u201cI\u2019m sorry I dropped that on you.\u201d \u201cI\u2019m not.\u201d \u201cAndi\u2026\u201d Andi\u2019s gentle smile brought tears to Riley\u2019s eyes. \u201cI don\u2019t know how to tell Fallon,\u201d Riley said. \u201cJust tell her the truth, Riley.
