But for the moment, Brooke felt a little better about possibly being the second woman Greg might learn to love. As soon as the thought crossed her mind, she shied away from it. She hadn’t known Greg Stevens long enough to even toy with the idea of love, she reminded herself. She cared for him and would allow herself to explore what she and Greg had together. She hoped that what Greg felt for her might turn into love. She knew that her own feelings were starting to head in that direction\u2014if she let them.<\/p>\n

But this year the melancholy was largely reduced by taking Angela out for ice cream at the end of the school day.<\/p>\n

Originally Brooke had expected that any time spent with Angela would also be time spent with Greg, but that quickly turned out not to be the case. Angela\u2019s Grandma Stevens had been tending when Greg worked evening hours, but lately that had become difficult because of her new calling as Relief Society president. So Brooke stepped in as Angela\u2019s evening sitter, and in no time Brooke and Angela considered each other great friends.<\/p>\n

Often Brooke put Angela down for the night and read and sang to her. The days flew by. Brooke knew that all too soon Greg and Angela would be leaving for Europe, so she tried to make the most of each moment with them.<\/p>\n
