Angel Devils Carnage MC Book 5 – Jewel Craven

I shake my head in disbelief. Everything I owned, he bought me, so I don’t understand why he would destroy it all? “Wow,” I breathe out nervously, my eyes scanning the room. “I’m sorry, the prospects were supposed to clean it up before I brought you back here,” Angel explains, his jaw ticking angrily as he taps out a message on his phone. “It’s alright. It’s just clothes that I can always replace,” I tell him. With my clothes and underwear strewn haphazardly across the floor, a disturbing image of crumpled fabrics, I refused to acknowledge the anxious apprehension it sparked about what it all meant.
“Come on, grab your shit and let’s get outta here,” Angel tells me. With a quiet efficiency, I head straight to the bathroom, picking out my favorite citrus scented body wash, and hair products, stuffing them into an empty bag. The ruined clothes I get Angel to throw in the dumpster out back of the building. The less I see of them, the better. I’ll just purchase a whole new wardrobe of clothes once I get to Dallas. I have some money saved up living with Rafael over the years, since my mom hasn’t taken out any life insurance.
And I was expecting the money from the sale of the house soon. I push thoughts of leaving Briar Creek, and most of all Angel and the women I’d grown close to, right to the back of my mind. I stuff the last of my belongings with trembling hands, the few remaining bits and pieces Rafael didn’t ruin into a bag I had found in the mess of the room. I couldn’t ignore feeling that the room was closing in on me, stifling me, and I had to force myself not to run out of there, but to walk.
His violation of my things made me want to scratch the skin off my bones. “Let’s get out of here,” I tell Angel, stepping out of the room and taking a deep breath of the fresh air. There was no way I was going to embarrass myself by throwing up all over again. “You don’t want to take anything else?” he questions, watching me closely. I shake my head, feeling a panic attack was coming on. The tightness in my chest was becoming unbearable with each breath I took, and I felt as though I were dying, as unshed tears swam in my eyes, impeding my vision.
I quickly swiped them with the back of my hand. Muscular arms wrap around me, holding me close to his warm body, as I tried to regulate my breathing, but I could see stars forming in front of my eyes, and I was becoming lightheaded. “Breathe, little bird,” Angel instructs softly, running a hand through my hair.
I open my eyes, smiling as the memories of last night come rushing back. Dante, my boyfriend of the last six months, and I had finally taken a big step in our relationship. I gave him my virginity, and it was the most beautiful moment of my life. Out of nowhere, he appeared at my prom last night, surprising me as I had expected to go solo.
With no friends accompanying me. Since I was not the popular girl. I never in a million years would have thought a bad boy like Dante would ever be interested in a good girl like me, since he doesn’t even go to my school. He’s two years older than me, and a prospect for the Devil’s Carnage MC in Dallas. My mom is out of town for the next few days visiting her friend, so I didn’t have to skulk around to be with Dante.
I turn my head and frown, expecting to see him beside me. Disappointment creases my brow. The sheets are cold, telling me he’s been gone for quite some time. A lump forms in my throat as I clutch the sheet to my chest. I can’t believe he would have left me all alone. Tears threaten to fall, but I refuse to let them, though a sniffle escapes as I shake my head in disbelief that he would do this to me. I wince as I sit up, muscles I didn’t know I had hurt as I moved, a reminder of what happened last night.
I look around the hotel room Dante had surprised me with, but find no trace of his belongings. Dread wraps its claws around my heart. My mom had warned me that nothing good would come of my dalliance— as she put it with Dante, but I wouldn’t listen to her. And now I’ve given him the ultimate gift.
I shake my head, refusing to believe that he would do this to me. Straightening my spine, I dress in the same outfit I had on last night, my black prom dress, which he had slowly taken off me.
