Initially, because my parents insisted that history is one of the most important parts of education, and then because I missed my father’s impassioned history rants so much, I felt continuing with reading up on and studying history was a way to make sure he lived on in memory. I devoured every biography and textbook I could get my hands on, and that’s all been surprisingly helpful. In a way, without even realizing it, I’ve been preparing to take the role of a diplomat between species for practically my entire life.

“Are you going to be in contact with Camden regularly?” Odelia asks me, standing from her seat to approach me. I nod. “I think so, yes. There’s one caveat to setting up the meeting between Lana and her father; Camden would like both of us to be there along with him.

He can represent shifters, you represent witches, and I represent humans.” Reyna, eavesdropping from where she’s seated on the other side of the table, snorts. “Of course, he did—that’s the best way to get an in-person meeting with you as soon as possible. Wolves are sneaky as fuck.” “Not as sneaky as witches though,” Odelia freely admits. She gives me a long look up and down, her eyebrows raising.

“The bond between you and him is different. Stronger. Almost like it’s starting to heal.” I nod. “We had a good conversation. I felt the shift take place—I think it’s beginning to mend.” “That’s very good,” Odelia says with a nod. “Especially since Hecate specified how important he’d be to your magical strength. Maybe the mending of the bond will help you gain more control over your fire.” “That would be very comforting,” Claire says.

“I’m good with shields, but even I occasionally tire of having to hold one up for my life each time we train.” I wince, shame overcoming me. “I’m sorry for that.” Reyna interjects, “Why? Fear of life is good for the soul. Reminds us of what we’re fighting for.” “Just because you get a rush out of fear doesn’t mean the rest of us do,” Claire says on a sigh. Reyna blinks. “You don’t like being afraid? I fucking love it. Gets my blood pumping.”

She pauses. “It also gets me horny, which can be a bit of a drag, since I then need to find someone to alleviate—” “Reyna,” I cut her off. “There are children present.” Leisel looks at me. “What does horny mean?” I stifle a wince.

1kitap1.com/en Author’s Note Hello lovely readers and welcome to A Court of Mythics and Magic, the conclusion to the Court of Mythics Duet, and Book Two in the Rockwell Pack series. I’d like to warn you in advance that this book includes horrible war that breeds tragedy for many characters, including our lovely heroine. Sierra gets her heart broken repeatedly and the path to mending it is paved with sorrow.

You will see children orphaned by war, battles that make my stomach churn, and blood staining cobblestone streets, but it’s tempered with family, care, and unity. The path to the happy ending is paved with difficulty, which makes the ending all the more exhilarating.
