A Macon Christmas – Ashley Munoz

Haley’s asked three times where you guys are. Shit. I punched out a reply. Me: On our way “Okay, ready,” Nora called from the living room. I turned to see her making her way back to the foyer, where I was standing, but I couldn’t see past the massive Santa in her arms. I practically choked out, “What is that?” Nora tipped it to the side, so I could see her sly lips sling upward.
“Oh nothing. Just a little memento.” “Babe, you can’t steal from her.” Nora shouldered past me. “She stole my cocoa bombs!” “Allegedly,” I whispered as we exited the house. Liam had a crazy detailed security system, so he’d be watching all this play out later, if he wasn’t already watching on his phone right now.
Nora moved down the driveway, cumbersome because of how large the Santa was. “I know she placed that order. I just have to find where she put them all, and you know it’s really sad because the only people who get hurt in this are the girls.” I rolled my eyes behind her back because the girls would be just as happy with regular cocoa as they were with those bombs she always gets. The girls loved the first time she did it because they didn’t know what to expect; now, the novelty had worn off a bit.
They just didn’t have the heart to tell her. Nora arrived at the truck and then tried to squeeze the Santa in the back seat, but it wouldn’t budge. “Cole, can you get it in there?” Crossing my arms, I glared at my wife and allowed a devious idea to form. “If I help you, then you get to let me have you after this. We’re not going to the City Hall or stealing anything else.
I get you while someone has our kids.” Her blue eyes flashed with heat, but an irritated scowl quickly replaced it. “You’re blackmailing me?” Smirking, I stalked closer. “I’m bargaining with you.” Pink lips parted with a breathy whisper as Nora tipped her head back and asked, “How exactly do you plan to have me?” My eyes moved to the back seat of the truck and hers followed.

Davis Epilogue 1kitap1.com/en 1 HALEY December first came with a panic-induced shopping spree. I hadn’t told my husband about this trip, or anyone else, because I was ashamed.
Not only had I abandoned Macon for a larger town, and expansive selection, but I was doing it to show up my two best friends. My boots clicked loudly across the floor of Target as I hastily headed for the exit. I glanced around briefly to ensure that no one was watching how many bags I carried, or how many different decorations peeked above the rim of each one. This was ridiculous, but as I hurried to my car, I couldn’t shake my utter embarrassment over this decision.
I knew it was underhanded. I was billions ahead of Rae and Nora when it came to financial stability, and while I never once flaunted it, nor did I ever try to make anyone feel inferior, I was determined to win. My phone buzzed with a text, and once I settled inside with the car running, I checked to see that Liam had messaged me. Hubby: Where are you?
