A Tempting Bite – Daniella Starre (1)

But no matter how hard I scrub, I know I can’t wash away what happened tonight. I force myself to step into the shower, letting the scalding water hit me. I don’t flinch at the heat. Instead, I lean into it, desperate for it to burn away the fear clinging to me. After a moment, everything I’ve been holding inside finally breaks. The fear, the confusion, and the sheer exhaustion of what happened… all of it crashes down on me at once. I can’t hold it back anymore. I press my hands against the cold tiles, my shoulders shaking as sobs wrack my body.
I don’t even try to stop them. The hot water streams down, mixing with the tears I can’t control. I feel so small, so fragile, like the weight of everything is too much to bear. I’m shaking, my mind racing, unable to escape the terror that’s still clawing at me.
Then, I hear the bathroom door creak open. My heart skips a beat, but before I can even think to react, I know it’s him. Cory doesn’t say a word. He doesn’t come closer or try to intrude. He’s just there. Silent. Present. And as strange as it is, knowing he’s there, that I’m not alone, helps. It’s like his presence alone grounds me, giving me the strength to finish what I started.
I manage to pull myself together enough to wash off the dirt, scrubbing away the grime and the memories of the attack. The tears still fall, but my sobs quiet down as I rinse the soap from my body. The water is almost too hot now, but I don’t care. It’s comforting in its own way.
When I finally shut off the water, the silence in the bathroom feels louder than before. I reach for a towel, wrapping it tightly around myself, suddenly self-conscious. I take a breath, hoping—praying—that Cory’s left the room by now. I can’t deal with him seeing me like this, so raw and vulnerable.
But when I step out of the tub, my foot catches on the edge of the towel, and before I even know what’s happening, I trip. A gasp escapes me, and I brace for impact, but instead of hitting the floor, I fall right into his arms. Cory catches me, his grip firm but gentle. For a moment, I freeze, staring up at him, my heart pounding in my chest.
His arms are warm and strong around me, steadying me.

Lisa Epilogue – Tom SPECIAL PREVIEW – An alluring BITE – Tom Other Books By Daniella Starre About the Author 1kitap1.com/en I 1 CORY ’ve been sitting in Luna’s Moon, the bar of the Steel Falls werewolves. Something keeps me glued to the spot, a nagging feeling that I need to stay. Maybe it’s the scent that’s been haunting me, or maybe it’s the unsettling tension in the air. Either way, I decide to stick around. Barrett joins me at the bar, looking more tired and worried than I’ve ever seen him.
He’s been on edge ever since Elias and his pack came into the picture, and I don’t blame him. In fact, I’m the same. Those asshole wolves came after me, and my arm has only just healed. “Hey, man,” I say, giving him a nod as he sits down next to me. “You doing okay?”
Barrett lets out a long breath, rubbing his temples. “Not really. I’m just… I’m worried, Cory. Worried about Amelia.” Amelia. I know the name well enough by now. Barrett’s been talking about her a lot lately, ever since she got caught up in all this werewolf madness. The fact that he turned her to save her life is still something I’m wrapping my head around. He’s completely gone for her, and I get it. She’s his mate, but they’ve been dealing with some heavy shit.
