Backstreet Evolutionist Book 3 – Anton Panarin

Do you wish to analyze it?” “Get lost, Ame,” I growled, clambering back to my feet and spitting out the salty saliva that was filling my mouth. The ratkin’s right arm was hors de combat. The lack of gripping power had forced it to shift its dagger to its left hand. Hissing and grinding its teeth, it moved carefully toward me. The beast’s movements no longer showed the sense of superiority that they had a minute earlier.
It wasn’t rushing carelessly into the fight now. It was slowly approaching, searching out the weak spots in my defense. “I… I surrender. Please don’t kill me,” I said pleadingly, getting down on my knees and placing my knife on the ground. My actions caused the ratkin a moment of confusion, but then it opened its jaws wide, hissed, and dashed toward me. The idiot. Greed really will get the better of you. In a fraction of a second, an ice needle formed in the air and shot into the beast’s upper palate, and from there on into its brain.
The ratkin dropped face-first onto the ground and slid back a few inches across the wet rock. “That was pretty easy,” I said smugly, picking up my knife from the floor and turning toward the last living monster. The rat with the staff was still blocking my ice arrow, of which only a thin shaft remained.
It was gradually melting away under the force of the magic barrier. The creature’s eyes shifted left and right in search of salvation. This thrift-store shaman, or whatever it was, appeared to be hoping that its brigade of furry critters would come back and stop me, giving it the chance to recover. Judging by the rhythmic thumping of stone on stone, however, Gracie had already turned everything living in the other tunnels to mincemeat. Reaching for mana, I formed another ice arrow in the air and launched it at the rat’s head.
But it was able to block that spell too. “Hu-u-uman scu-u-m! You will di-i-ie!” gasped the ratkin, baring its teeth. “If you say so,” I smiled, then stepped straight toward it. 1kitap1.com/en C h a p t e r 1 2 “I’M GOING TO GNA-A-AW on your throat! Just you try-y-y…” uttered the monster in a nervous voice. “You know, it’s amazing that you can talk. For some reason, I thought all the creatures who came out of the rifts were brainless brutes.
I wonder how many more there are like you,” I said, playing with my knife. I came right up against the magic barrier and stopped. “Go on, to-o-ouch it. I’ll melt your flesh, hehehe…” The rat chuckled, but its laugh was like a death rattle. Sure, this was one cunning rat, but I wasn’t going to fall for that.

Do you wish to analyze it?” When I heard the female voice, I laughed, sending a new wave of pain through my body. “Misha! Come on, guys! Help!” Pez yelled, trying to pull the monster’s body off me. But I was floating slowly into darkness, aware that I might not come back. “Swallow,” I croaked, and then passed out.
I came to occasionally and heard snatches of speech. “Goddamn, there’s so much blood,” Lumber gasped. Then it was darkness and silence again, followed by an impact that brought me back to my senses. “Doughnut, you cretin! Hold tight! If you drop Boxer again, I’ll take your head off!” Pez barked.
