“Know something? There’s 55 shoe stores in the mall. Think that’s enough choice?” “Never too much choice in shoes!” “T’ve got an idea! Let’s window shop for our weddings.” They went into a store that sold bridal gowns and accessories. Mannequins were reflected along the mir- rored walls, beautifully gowned for weddings they would never attend. A woman with a warm smile welcomed Heather and Liz, then left them alone to try on hats with veils and long white gloves.

“T like all the pearls,” Heather said. “And the lace.” “TI know someone who’s having eight bridesmaids when she marries.” “Eight?” Heather nodded. “Remember that guy Chad?” “TI guess so! We’ve got a date tomorrow. You set it up, So don’t forget to come!” “T’ll be there, don’t you worry. Anyway, I’ve only met Chad once but he seemed friendly. I know his sister. She’s the one who’s having eight bridesmaids.” “Some wedding.” They decided to have lunch and walked to an outdoor cafe at the Ice Palace where the tables overlooked the ice.

Heather and Liz ordered quiche Lorraine and spring water, then looked down at the rink. “Hey,” Liz said. “There’s Chad.” He had curly black hair and was wearing an ice dan- cing costume. A female dancer and a grey-haired woman were with him on the ice. “She must be their coach,” Liz said.

She watched with fascination as Chad and the girl rehearsed with the woman, whirling around the ice. “I can’t believe he’s an ice dancer, and he’s so good.” “Someone told me that’s his cousin.” “His partner? That’s great.” : When the rehearsal ended they nibbled their quiche and a delicious salad while discussing the attack at the indoor sea.

“You look for means, motive and opportunity,” Liz said. “The villain has to have all three.” “So, who qualifies in the scuba club?” Liz thought for a moment. “Well, any of them could have broken off a chunk of coral.
