Coach Fallout – Casey Cox

Now, I don’t have anywhere near the money required to buy the team myself, but over the years, I’ve made a number of contacts who do. I’ve assembled a coalition of investors, and I’m confident I’ve got enough cash to make the winning bid. Or, I was confident until discovering Rein is a potential buyer. His pockets run very, very deep. But I put that worry aside for now and tune in to what Cory has to say.
“I called you both in here today because I’ve received five formal bids to buy the Grizzlies,” he says. “Your bids were the first and second highest.” Rein and I lock eyes for a beat. Great. I can see where this is heading. Cory is building a case for a bidding war, and fuck, how much more can I squeeze out of my investors?
“I could play you off against each other…” Cory steeples his fingers. “But I won’t.” My chest tightens, breath stalling for a beat. “Go on.” “This isn’t about money. I have more than enough. I know you do, too, Rein. And…” He shoots me an empathetic look because I’m the only one in the room who doesn’t. I brush it off like I always do. When you don’t grow up with a lot, you realize you don’t need a ton of money to be happy in life, just enough to get by.
And I’ve built a successful career for myself coaching the minor league, so I’m fortunate enough to have enough. More than a lot of other hardworking folks, actually. That’s something I never take for granted. Even if having a couple of extra mil lying around would come in mighty handy right about now. “So if you don’t intend on playing us off against one another, what is this about, Cory?”
Rein asks. “I’m prepared to sell you the team on one condition…”

Our families have been feuding for as long as Gilberton has been a town. Against all odds, Rein became my best friend—my ride-or-die. On and off the field. Like Romeo and Juliet, but with football…and a straight guy I had no business crushing on. We both made the majors, but our dream turned into a nightmare when a mistimed hit sent us both crashing to the turf. Rein got up. I didn’t. We haven’t spoken a word to each other in almost fifteen years.
Until we both end up back in Gilberton. An unexpected run-in turns into one of us waking up naked. Spoiler alert: it’s the straight guy. But I don’t want to let Rein into my life again. Not after what he did in the fallout of the accident. Fate has other plans, though. Turns out, we’re both bidding for the same minor league football team. The seller gives us twenty-four hours to buy it on one condition: we have to buy it together.
Will opening old wounds destroy us…or finally turn us into something more? Coach Fallout is perfect if you love: (Former) friends to enemies to lovers Bi awakening Family rivalry Forced to work together Small-town setting No miscommunication & no third-act breakup Guaranteed happily ever after! 1kitap1.com/en PROLOGUE 1kitap1.com/en 15 years ago… Beau The stadium buzzes with lights, cameras, and crackling energy. It’s an early- season game, so the stakes aren’t that high, but every game I play against my best friend, Rein Winkelmann, is like the Super Bowl to me.
Two small-town childhood best friends playing in the NFL. This is the stuff of dreams. Rein is more like a brother to me than my own flesh-and- blood brothers. We’ve been inseparable since first grade. I still remember him marching up to me, all confident and easy with his jet-black hair, catlike green eyes, and porcelain skin.
