The youngest of their Legion lay dead in droves. ‘It’s no different to the Centrum,’ indifferently commented the Paladin, marching through the ocean of souls that were swept towards him, with a stoic frown upon his features, ‘merely corpses,’ ‘There are children amongst the dead, Lyrinn!’ hissed Valencia, furious at his dismissive tone, her irises now burning in hot, cerulean light. ‘Correct,’ he indifferently replied, pacing on, before bluntly remarking, ‘and they are dead, like everyone else in this-’ ‘Lyrinn!’

angrily roared Snuggles, her irises burning in scolding, blue flames, as she directed her ire at him, ‘Be more respectful!’ ‘My apologies, Caller,’ the Paladin sarcastically replied, ‘perhaps you could give me better words to-’ Lyrinn then clenched his jaw, as a white-hot rod of pain was rammed into his skull with the intent of causing maximum agony.

He defaulted and had to put one hand against the wall to stop himself falling over. ‘Tell Valencia about the heroism of those girls, there,’ Snuggles stated, berating him, as she pointed to one cluster of skeletons. ‘B-by your will, Caller,’ the Paladin replied, shaking his head clear in order to read the thought burned into his mind. He seemed genuinely terrified by her for a moment. ‘This is the corpse of Notable Maiden Acha,’ began Lyrinn, pointing out one body amongst the rest, as he turned to the Battle-maiden, ‘she led the surviving Maidens of the Gold and Black Legion in a final charge.

None of them survived the suicidal action,’ he hesitated for a moment, wondering if he would be punished again, but quickly continued when he saw that the Caller was cuddling the Succubi, ‘she was certainly a Caller in the making,’ ‘The poor girl mustn’t have even seen her thirteenth summer,’ Valencia commented. ‘In that, you’d be correct,’ The pair stood, gazing upon the body for a few moments.

Wilson and Longstaff joined them, sad frowns on their faces. ‘We have seen so much loss, so much death…’ Snuggles began, now crouching next to the fallen Maiden, having helped Ælfmilia and Hælderelda compose themselves enough to stand, ‘yet this… this is…’ ‘Inspirational?’ Lyrinn interjected, purposefully misreading the atmosphere. ‘P-pardon?’
