Fine Lines – Codi Ryan (1)

It’s early morning now, and she’s sound asleep on my chest. I can’t stop thinking about the kiss, this all happened by accident and I’ve never been more thankful for drunk texting that night. She moans a little into my chest, waking up as I stare at the top of her head, I can just see her eyelashes flutter and my heart rate speeds up. I hold her a little tighter as she drags one hand over my chest. “Good morning, darlin.” She hums and slides her body further up under my chin close enough for me to kiss her forehead.
“Hey you.” I like this and I could definitely get used to this. “Did you get enough sleep?” She yawns. “Had the craziest dream.” “What was it?” “You and I kissed for hours, thank God it was a dream, how gross.” She teases and I tickle the side of her waist, she quietly giggles under my hold. I managed to pull her shirt up a little, exposing her skin to my fingers, and I sweetly trace along the side of her waist watching her eyes close as I do it.
“Does that not tickle now?” “Not when you do it like that.” I don’t overstep the boundaries and go beyond her waist, but God, her skin genuinely feels like silk that my hands could practically slip off her body. “Do you know where my phone is? I bet I’ve got a million missed calls and texts from Dad wondering where I am.” I reach over to my bedside table passing it to her. “Does he know you’re here?” “He knows I was hanging out with all of you, but he doesn’t know where I stayed the night.”
Crap, the only fine line I’ve crossed is between me and my coach and kissing his daughter. Can’t say I’m ever looking forward to that conversation. (Dad) What time are you coming home? Sent 1:00am “Not as much concern as I thought, not that I’m surprised.” She types out a text to her grandma telling her she’s going to come by soon.
Then goes back to her message from her dad to reply. (Tate) My phone died. I drove to Grandma’s and stayed here last night. I’ll be home later. Sent 10:15am Already, I’m saddened by her absence and she hasn’t even left yet. I think I’m scared to let her leave, because I don’t know what’s going to happen after she does. Will the moments disappear? Her phone pings from her dad again. (Dad) I’ve had to make a trip again to New York.
I won’t be back until Friday. You can stay with them all week if you need company.
Codi Ryan is the brand-new author on the scene with a love for books accustomed to drama, romance, fantasy and a hint of spice. Currently, she’s in the middle of writing more fantastic, romantic adventures to share with the world, but holds this one dearly to her heart. Apart from reading and writing, Codi loves theatre, travelling, and has an unhealthy Lego obsession.
