I thought, “The wood is God. It was given to me by God. I am the Presence of God carrying the wood. Burning the wood will be a celebration of God, and it’s going to keep God alive during the cold winter that is coming.” With each armload of firewood, I observed myself. I had the choice: to be impatient, angry, and frustrated, or I could be in a state of equanimity— even Enlightenment. So, I got myself into that frame of mind and I saw this work as a meditation.

It lasted three days and I had a high experience. Is the mind really like a mirror as the Buddhists claim? That is another question I was recently asked. After a while you perceive that everything is a reflection of yourself. If you become angry at another person but can at the same time still your human mind to some degree, you see that the other person is mirroring your own anger, and you can give gratitude to that mirror for showing what you need to work on.

Gradually you begin to move into the higher consciousness that allows you to see the Cosmic Mirror. In Tibetan Buddhism they talk about the three Kaya’s, or bodies. The physical body is known as the Nirmanakaya, the Higher Mental Body is known as the Sambhogakaya, and the I AM Presence is the Dharmakaya. This highest body is sometimes portrayed in Tibetan art as Amitabha Buddha, the God of Infinite Light.

Some lamas who haven’t actually experienced these higher bodies think the Dharmakaya is just a level of consciousness. Even though kaya means body, they don’t realize that, even though made of Light, the Dharmakaya is an actual body that is your True Self. You also have another body which we sometimes call the soul or higher mental body.

How this Book Originated This was originally a collection of transcripts of talks that I gave online over a decade.

To make them available in book format, I tried to delete colloquial expressions and eliminate repetition to make the book more readable. Thus, the text is less formally organized than if it had been written as a book from start to finish according to a plan. That is its nature. Note of Gratitude I would like to thank, Kevin Barnett, Victoria Bowen, Christine and Thomas Carlisle, Juno Dawson, Annika Sophia Grace, Matt O’Connell, and Amanda and Jordan Sunshine, for their invaluable assistance in the editing of this book.
