Blackheart Curse Of The Eternal Drift 1 – Hazel Rivers

Steam exploded upward in roaring white columns where the fresh river of lava met the sea, turning the water into a boiling cauldron. The air shimmered with heat, and ash fell so thick it coated the deck in seconds. “Harder to starboard!” Striker bellowed, muscles bulging as he fought the wheel. “She’s fighting us!” Blackheart stood beside him, one hand gripping the binnacle, the other signing rapidly. Her hoarse voice cut through the roar: “Brace…
every line!” “Captain says brace every line!” Striker relayed. “Kofi, Lila—get those braces hauled! Rodrigo, man the pumps! We can’t take another hit like that!” Kofi lunged for the starboard braces, his powerful arms hauling with everything he had. “She’s sluggish! That hull patch is holding, but the rudder feels heavy!”
Lila scrambled across the tilting deck, bare feet sliding on ash-slick planks. “I’m on it! Tomas, help me with this sheet—pull, lad, pull like your life depends on it!” “I am!” Tomas cried, small hands raw as he threw his weight against the rope. “It’s burning my fingers! The air’s too hot!” Mara moved between them, tying a wet cloth over her mouth and nose. “Breathe through this! The steam will scald your lungs if you’re not careful. Rodrigo, keep those pumps going or we’ll founder before the lava even reaches us!”
Rodrigo worked the pump handles like a man possessed, sweat pouring down his face. “I’m pumping as fast as I can! Water’s coming in faster than I can push it out. Captain, we’re listing worse!” Blackheart gestured sharply, pointing toward a narrow gap between two towering steam geysers. The glowing pearl in her other hand pulsed brighter, as if urging them toward that slender corridor of cooler water.
Striker nodded. “She says steer for the gap between the geysers! It’s our only clear path. The pearl is guiding us!” Kofi glanced at the approaching wall of lava. “That gap’s closing fast! If we miss it, we’re cooked—literally!” “Then we don’t miss it!” Lila shouted, securing another line. “Come on, Vengeance, you stubborn girl—turn for us!” The ship responded sluggishly.
The rudder bit into the churning sea, and slowly, painfully, the bow began to swing. A massive wave of superheated water crashed over the starboard rail, hissing where it touched wood. Steam rose in painful clouds. Tomas yelped as droplets hit his arm. “It burns! It burns like fire!”
Mara was there instantly, pouring cool water from a bucket over the boy’s skin. “Hold on, child. We’re almost through. Breathe slow.” Blackheart moved to the rail, leaning out into the blistering heat. Ash stuck to her sweat-slicked face. She signed without looking back. Striker’s voice strained as he fought the wheel. “Captain says more speed! We need the sails trimmed tighter—Lila!”

This book is yours. May the sea be kind to you… or at least, let you scream. —Hazel Rivers 1kitap1.com/en S CHAPTER ONE 1710 omewhere in the Atlantic… A fierce battle between a pirate sloop and a naval flagship was taking place. The sound of the cannons, the guns, and clashing swords was defining.
By a strike of luck, the pirates dominated the marines and killed them all before they could surrender. The pirates abandoned the ship and stole the flagship. They quickly repaired the ship and were so busy that they didn’t notice the stowaway who was hiding below deck. The pirates salvaged everything they could from the sloop, and soon they sailed away.
Captain Teach gave the order to prepare the ship for the storm that was brewing in the horizon and went to his cabin. Some hours later, captain Teach was at his cabin, rushing waves hitting the glass panels in his cabin, thunder, breaking the muffled sound of the rain. A crew member breaks into his cabin: “Captain!
We see land!” The pirate said. Teach opened his eyes wide, a faint smirk on his face. “We have found it!” Teach came out of his cabin and looked through the looking glass. “Don’t go closer to the island, I don’t want to beach the ship!” He orders and the crew follows.
After some hours weathering the storm, the seas finally calmed. They sailed towards the island, lowered anker and a row boat that was in stow. The vice captain stayed at the ship while Teach and some crew members rowed to the island. They made it to the beach and looked at the forest ahead.
