Both Of Me – Amber Kelly

I throw my towel onto a lounger and remove my cover-up. I hear a whistle and look over to the volleyball net. The game has stopped, and all their eyes are on me and Adi. “Hi, fellas.” Adi lowers her sunglasses and waves. They all grin and resume their play. We lie there all afternoon, soaking up the sun and enjoying the party. At one point, I am lying on my stomach, and I drift off to sleep. I awake to a pair of hands on my back.
I yawn as I come up to my elbows and look back. I see one of Lorenzo’s friends, Jeremy, sitting on the edge of my lounger. “Hey, Gabby. I think you fell asleep. You need to turn over soon, so you don’t burn.” “Thanks,” I say as I bring my hand up to shield my eyes from the sun, so I can look at his face.
He is handsome in a boyish kind of way. “Want me to rub some sunblock on your back?” “Sure.” I hand him the lotion from my bag, and he gently smooths it over my skin. “I was wondering,” he says while he is applying the block, “if maybe you would like to go to dinner with me sometime.” I look over in Lorenzo’s direction and say, “What does Lo think about that?”
“He said, over his dead body or mine.” “But you asked me anyway?” “Yes, ma’am. The way I see it, a date with you is worth the bodily harm.” “Well, how can I refuse when you are willing to risk a painful death?” “Is that a yes?” “That’s a yes. For dinner.
Just dinner.” “Awesome. I’ll call you when we are back in the city.” “Okay.” I look over to see Lorenzo and Cross watching as Jeremy finishes his task of reaching the places I can’t with the sunblock and then heads back toward the house. Neither looks very happy. They will just have to get over it. We all eat, and the party starts to slow down as the sun sets. Some of the crowd starts dispersing to their own rentals, or they’re heading back into the city.

The world would be a dull place without your love, laughter, and friendship. This book is for you. 1kitap1.com/en Four Years Old I am getting all dressed up like a princess. Papa and Mamma are expecting company for dinner tonight, so Nonna has dressed me in my prettiest dress. It is purple, and it has yellow butterflies on the front. Purple is my favorite color. I twirl and twirl until I am dizzy. “Hold still, so I can finish your hair, Gabriella,” Nonna scolds.
She helps me get my shoes on as she explains that the Scutari family just moved two estates down from us. Mr. Scutari is in the same business as Papa. He and his three boys—Emilio, Atelo, and Christoff—as well as their grandparents are coming to meet us all tonight, and Papa wants me and my brothers to be on our very best behavior. She holds my hand and leads me downstairs. “There is my bambina.” Papa reaches out for me, and he picks me up and spins me around as I laugh with glee.
He turns, and I see a group of people huddled in the foyer. “Say hello to our new friends, Gabriella. This is Papa’s friend Mr. Scutari and his boys and their grandparents.” “Hi.”
