It hits a lamp and almost immediately a portion of the shelf above them breaks free and traps them underneath. All my mathematical calculations weren’t for nothing, I think, even as I use my hearts for what they were always meant to be used for—increased concentration, exceptional athleticism and a phenomenal metabolism rate. While pulling my clothes off the floor, I sprint across the porch and run towards the car even as a guttural scream of pure rage reaches my ears. Not bothering to look back, I push the car into fifth gear and speed away, only to skid into a snowy trench in less than thirty minutes when I foolishly attempt to wear my clothes.

I am shocked by the two people who enter. “Ma—Papa!” I exclaim, incredulous. “But how?” “My child!” Ma says breaking into sobs, “What have you done to yourself?” Papa comforts me and says, “We were worried when we heard about the failing grades and decided to pay you a surprise visit. And thank God for that! If it wasn’t for that kind gentleman, we may have lost you forever!” “How long has it been?”

I ask, beginning to wonder about my safety. “It’s been a week!” he replies, “and we know all about it now. They are already probing into how your basketball teacher lured you and that other woman—Rebecca. She has already left the town, while he is behind bars. The scoundrel!” I breathe a sigh of relief and break into tears of joy.

“I love you both,” I reply, and despite the pain, hug them as tightly as I can manage, feeling safe once again! May, 2016 “It will take time,” he says scratching his bald pate irritably and snuffing the cigarette with disdain. She grunts, applying henna to her hair, and cursing herself for someone else’s choice of hair colour. “It’s just a matter of time before Rhea falls in love again!” he replies, removing his spectacles. “What do you think? Will it work this time?”

With a little encouragement and support, many more authors will be widely read and attain a place in the sun. This is the essence of Readomania—an initiative that nurtures emerging stars of the literary world. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Readomania is the talent hunt in fiction. It goes a step beyond by not just identifying the talent but also nurturing it and showcasing it to the world.

In the process, we have created a powerhouse of content. Readomania has four principle interest areas—traditional print publishing, online library of short stories and poetry, literary events and products. The web platform is a unique place for people who love reading and writing.
