Calocane pressed an intercom button at Thames House in Mill- bank, Central London, on May 31, 2021, and asked to be arrested. He said he had information on a case. The inquiry heard from the Metropolitan Police’s PC Graham Foster, who spoke with Calocane that day.

PC Foster did not ask Calocane why he wanted to be arrested, and explained that he was trying to build rapport. He said Calocane had seemed calm, compliant and coherent. He added that on previous encounters with people saying they wanted to be arrested, they usually soon changed their minds. PC Foster added: “To me, it was a very routine stop. It didn’t flag any concerns to myself.” The killer was seen leaving in an Uber.

Calocane, who has para- noid schizophrenia, was reported to Nottingham- shire Police two months after the incident in London, when he pushed his flatmate against a wall and tried to get into his bedroom at night. The flatmate, named only as Sebastian, said: “It was obviously a shock because that came very out of the blue.” Two years later Calo- cane fatally stabbed Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, both 19, and Ian Coates, 65, and tried to kill three others, and was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in January 2024.

The inquiry in London continues. Humperdinck take to the stage. When Peter Kay performed there in 1999, the experience inspired Phoenix Nights, his hit show about a working men’s club. a young man and his group who are doing very well on the pop scene”. His son, Bernard Manning Jr, took on the club after the comedian retired in 1999, and he rebranded it as an alterna- tive comedy venue in an attempt to distance it from his dad’s controversial comedic style.

Manning, who died in 2007, had denied racism, saying: “I tell jokes.
