Darling Godmother – Shade Zuiweta

“Will you just hush for a while.” “See, I knew it. You are drunk.” Angela gathered Mama in her arms as she wobbled slightly on her heels. She looked back at Nova, her expression a mix of anger and guilt. “You should go home.” “No.” Mama straightened in her seat. “Nova has been a major support system. She can stay.” “And I’m honored to always be that,” Nova said, softly. “That’s good to know, but Phyla you’re drunk out of your mind,” Angela lowered herself into a chair. “If she were any good to you, she wouldn’t have let that happen and in front of your child.”
“I don’t need a babysitter.” “I’m only looking out for you, and it’s not like you to ignore my calls. You should really get some sleep.” “Stop telling me what to do all the time. I’m sick of it.” “Can you and I talk for a minute?” Angela asked. Mama flashed a weak smile and crossed her arms. “Talk.” “Actually, I was hoping to speak to you privately.” Angela’s glare cut toward Nova as if she were someone she despised, then she turned back to Mama.
“In the bedroom or kitchen, perhaps?” “Fine. Let me get Inessa into bed first, and then we’ll talk.” “Is there a reason you keep looking at me so funny?” Nova asked. “Yes. I want to know why you got her drunk.” “I didn’t do anything.” Nova let out a long, heavy breath. “See… I really am beginning to think you don’t like me.” “You’re right. I don’t care for you at all. Don’t you have a hobby or a man you need to get home to instead of showing your face here all the time?”
Angela turned to Mama.

Nova Epilogue Note From The Author About the Author Also By Shad’e Zuiweta OceanofPDF.com Many women of the African American race came forward that they were told by medical staff, nurses mainly, that their newborns had passed shortly after birth without being allowed to see the bodies. This information was not only a breach of protocol, but it was found to be false.
Darling Godmother digs into the issues that occurred between the early 1960’s and even throughout the 80’s, where criminal negligence occurred and the adoption rates were high that went without consent of the parent. Damages not only resulted in depression, but mental effects were far worse for some coping with loss. This fictional story is inspired by true events. OceanofPDF.com One Nova Day of The Incident– 1983 “I didn’t mean to hurt you, Nova,” Phyla said, her eyes wide as she stood over me.
“Get away from me.” My voice rose, sharp and edged with pain. I looked into my best friend’s eyes, feeling devastated. “You intentionally did this to me.” The pain in my stomach was unbearable, forcing my gaze to the sky. The last slivers of sunlight bled from it, leaving behind a gleaming red that mirrored my helplessness and hurt. I rested my hand gently on my abdomen, trying to keep calm despite the anger burning through me.
It was nearly impossible to stay composed with the level of pain I was in, knowing our once– sweet and tight friendship, had now shifted into bitter coldness. My mind was blown thinking about how she’d deliberately kept this whole circus act shit a secret. Then I heard Wes, my fiancé calling my name, his voice overtaking Phyla’s.
