I want to go upstairs with him… “How you doin?” I turn around and lock eyes with a relatively attractive guy who is waggling his eyebrows at me in a comically suggestive way. “I got a room upstairs if you’re interested… if you swing my way that is.” Laughing at his terrible attempt at a pickup line, I take a sip of my drink. I have to say, it’s nice to hear an accent that isn’t yinzer around here for a change.

Don’t get me wrong, I have fallen in love with the greater Pittsburgh metropolis, but you can only hear someone say “dahntahn” so many times before it makes you want to rip your hair out. “From New York?” I ask him in order to flip the subject away from a hookup while I try to keep the stairs in my field of vision to see how long it takes for Jesse to come back down.

“By way of Atlanta, yep. I’m Stan. I’ll be officially moving in over the holiday break and start work downtown in the new year.” We chat for a while, and I find myself forgetting to check the stairs while Stan and I are enjoying each other’s company. He even manages to get me to admit to being a virgin without embarrassing the hell out of me. “That’s cool that you are. I mean, I’m still trying to lose mine when it comes to dudes, too.
