Frightfully Yours – VV Strange

“Such a scumbag. That’s all I can tell you.” Hunter chuckled, and his smile was vicious. “He’s not happy. Or well rested.” “Give him a break, let him think it’s over, and then pay him some more visits. Feel free to do your worst. If he loses his mind, well,” he shrugged.
“Happy to. How about your girl?” Your girl. It was not what Hunter had meant, but it didn’t fail to bring him a shiver of something good. His face remained unreadable as he suppressed the smile he felt building. “Still a work in progress, but I’m getting closer.” “If there’s one who can break her, that’s you.” He liked this less. Break Amelia.
No, he didn’t want that. Help her get rid of all her husband—ex-husband, thank you—had done, see her embracing all of what she wanted to be. He wanted that, and he could help, if only she’d let him in. Of course, she’d kick his arse if he came clean right now. No. He’d help her, come clean, talk to her so she would understand why he lied, and stay with her.
She was a reasonable woman. She would understand. And with the bond thrown in the middle, even the Bureau of Interspecies Relations would give them a break. And after that, when he was free to be himself and she was resolved and happy, then they could be together.
He had no clue what that meant, but he’d figure it out. “Boss?” Hunter jarred him out of his planning. “Yes.” “If there’s nothing else, I’ll just… go?” He waved him off. “Yes, yes. Go. And thank you.” Alone again, he went to the window but saw nothing of what was outside. He needed to speed up the process because now that he’d decided to accept the bond, he needed to work on it.
Even now, he felt the pull to shift and go back to her. He was so close. He only needed one little push. A smile curved his lip. Maybe he’d just found a way to seal the deal. ~*~ Amelia looked outside at the cloudless sky. It would be freezing. But it was Thursday, grocery shopping day, regardless of how cold it was. And to be honest, she admitted with a sigh, the day was so pretty, the air so clear.
It would be a shame to waste it inside, even if it wasn’t grocery shopping day.
