Figure 11.14 Application Information for Object Page Click the Preview Application button to start the application. In the popover, select between different run configurations. To have the application running against our OData service, select start here (see Figure 11.15). Alternatively, you can achieve this by simply executing npm run start fiori run –open ‘test/flpSandbox.html#zbookappobjectpage-tile’ in the command line.

Figure 11.15 Starting the Object Page Application After starting and accessing the application, we get a list of all available books (see Figure 11.16). By clicking on an entry, the navigation into the object page is triggered. Figure 11.16 List of Available Entries As shown in Figure 11.17, nothing is displayed in the object page. This is because no annotation has been added for it. To now display content in the object page, we’ll add the required annotation to the OData service in the next steps.

Figure 11.17 Empty Object Page In the following, we’ll extend the OData service with the appropriate annotation. First, we’ll use the HeaderInfo annotation to display data such as title and ISBN in the header area. In this annotation, a type name in singular and plural, a title, and a description can be specified. The type name is displayed in the header bar, while the title and description are displayed in the upper area of the object page.

Furthermore, it’s important that UI.DataField is specified as the type for Title and Description. This annotation must be added to the CDS service for this purpose. Listing 11.1 shows how this would look in our case. It’s important that this is created as a child of the UI annotation. HeaderInfo: { TypeName: ‘Book’, TypeNamePlural: ‘Books’, Title : { $Type : ‘UI.DataField’, Value : title }, Description : { $Type : ‘UI.DataField’, Value : isbn } } Listing 11.1 “HeaderInfo” Annotation for Object Page After the annotation is added, the definition of the service should look like Figure 11.18.

Figure 11.18 Annotated Service after Adding the “HeaderInfo” Annotation If the object page is now reloaded, the corresponding information should be displayed correctly (see Figure 11.19). Figure 11.19 Header Information Present in the Object Page after Adding the “HeaderInfo” Annotation To display further detailed data in the form of a form, the service must be supplemented by more annotations.

Nicknamed the “Dream Team”, they are widely considered to be one of the greatest sports teams ever assembled, in any sport! With fourteen total inductees to the Basketball Hall of Fame and more wins under their belt than can reasonably be counted, it’s hard to argue with that assertion. For Full Stack Development with SAP, we’ve assembled our own Dream Team.

Rene Glavanovits, Martin Koch, Daniel Krancz, and Maximilian Olzinger are the best in the business. Their breadth of knowledge, their incredible practical experience, and their ability to impart knowledge to readers is unparalleled. While there is no Hall of Fame for authors, we know who we’d be nominating if there was! What did you think about Full Stack Development with SAP? Your comments and suggestions are the most useful tools to help us make our books the best they can be.
