Gods Of The Deep The Gods Series 1 – DA Lascelles

One moment, he lectured in his usual style, about to outline a plan that might have saved them from this dire situation, and the next there was nothing. “Everyn? Are you alright?” It may be that he was just thinking, trying to formulate a strategy. She’d often seen it with academic types, a wandering mind that tended to stray into abstract concepts. He would come out of it in a few seconds and be fine. She waited a little longer, looking at his face for any sign of recognition.
This is too long for a mere abstract pause. Finally, his face animated and he blinked at her a few times. “You have to look under the floorboards,” he said with an insistent intensity, waving the hand that held the compass around his head. “You’ll find it under the floorboards.
Don’t forget!” “No, I won’t forget,” she said kindly, taking the compass off him and cursing her luck. “You won’t forget, will you?” He looked at her closely. “Oh, you’re not Kate. Where is Kate? She was here a moment ago.” “No, I am not Kate,” she sighed. “I’m Rachel. I’d like to speak to Everyn. Is he there?” Well, it might work. He paused in his manic waving. His grey eyes bore into her and for a moment, she thought she might have gotten through to whatever was left of Everyn under the possessing spirit.
In his eyes, she could see what she thought might have been a glimmer of his personality. “You have to tell Kate to look under the floorboards. She will know what it means.” With that, he turned and wandered off, grabbing any who walked within range and urgently telling them to remind Kate about the floorboards. Rachel screamed in frustration.

Proofreading and Beta reading duties were performed by R.A Smith, Ninfa Hayes and Elizabeth Morgan randomly at various points. I attribute the insane idea that led to me producing this volume to Nick Alhelm of Pulp Empires/Metahuman Press who also kindly allowed me to reclaim the rights to Gods of the Sea. This book is dedicated to the memory of Judy Bagshaw who was the ultimate cheerleader before she was taken from us too soon. OceanofPDF.com I FOREWORD t all began when I was in the middle of tackling the biggest pile of washing up ever seen by mankind.
Not a typical way to start a story about my initial contact with a fantasy world, but it was the truth. Sarah and I were helping as crew at a live roleplaying event and, while the players enjoyed a tasty banquet, we were mired in the endless supply of dirty dishes that moved in a constant stream from the dining hall.
In the midst of all this, a certain Mr David Hawkins sauntered in and gave us a leaflet for a new event he planned to run later that year.
