Her Billionaire Ceo Book 3 – Jewel Allen

After all of Jess’s coaching the week before, he had thought he was ready for the first June debate. But now, sitting in the lights at the local high school, without Jess by his side, and only Congressman Bell sitting there waiting to see him trip up, he forgot everything. He’d even studied up on the state’s budget. What needed to be cut and what needed to be salvaged.
The important issues of the day. What he envisioned for Colorado’s future. Now there was nothing in his brain. Not even a lick of straw. He flipped through his note cards and felt a little better, but some of the information swam in his eyes. This wasn’t some fitness class at a senior center. There was a TV camera on one side covering this live. The auditorium was packed. Congressman Bell walked over to shake hands with Trey. “Nervous?” The guy sounded like a satisfied snake.
“A little,” Trey lied. “Don’t worry, most people will forget what’s said here. You can go back to being anonymous after I win the Primaries.” Trey couldn’t even muster enough annoyance at the braggart’s words. He was too worried about passing out. His fingers left sweaty imprints on his notes. Perspiration trickled down his neck. Trey could also feel his face ooze oil. Under his sport jacket, a furnace raged.
He couldn’t see Jess in the audience. The lights blinded his eyes and darkness covered the rest of the auditorium. Can this please be over now? A twenty-something guy came over to check his mic. For one moment, Trey wanted to grab him and say, come take my place. Of course he did no such thing, watching the young man leave the stage. Like the rodeo hands did at the chute before the eight-second ride.
Congressman Bell and Trey took turns flipping a quarter and the male journalist moderator, Ernie-something, declared Trey the winner. Get it over with already. Trey had practiced his spiel a few times with Jess but apparently not enough. He stumbled over it a little, and by the end, he wasn’t even sure what he had said. Congressman Bell, on the other hand, sounded smooth and in control.
Someone a voter could elect. Ernie asked questions about military presence abroad to border security to education. Ranching and property rights never once came up. Trey felt strongest in that area, and yet he wasn’t going to be able to show off his chops. In the end, they each had two minutes to give a closing speech. Trey spoke with confidence about ranching and touched on a few other issues, before rapidly closing his speech because someone in the audience gave him the time’s up sign.
Congressman Bell walked over once again to shake Trey’s hand.

Books in Her Billionaire CEO series: Her Billionaire Bodyguard Her Billionaire Prince Her Billionaire Cowboy Her Billionaire Santa Her Billionaire Spy OceanofPDF.com CHAPTER ONE TREY Trey Johnson stroked his beard as he stood outside the front door of the Colorado State Senate Building, wondering if he should have come. What did a cowboy know about politics? But after he’d had to kick off multiple trespassers from his land these past few weeks, he knew he was doing the right thing.
He’d read about the brand new law allowing people to enter private property if a river runs through it. Apparently Congressman Greg Bell pushed for the bill to pass. And now Trey and his neighboring ranchers were dealing with not just trespassers but rustlers. Before one could even say Appaloosa, Trey made an appointment with the congressman. Bell’s secretary sounded pleased he had called, excited even.
Well, Trey was here, even if he was a tad nervous. Might as well make the best of it. Trey waited a heartbeat, then reached for the handle of the heavy-looking Capitol door. It opened and a slew of young women came out. He tipped his hat. “Mornin’ ladies.” The girls stared at him, then giggled. With this little pleasant debut at the Capitol, Trey went to find the office where Congressman Bell worked from while in Denver. It was all the way up three flights of steps, his cowboy boots making hollow, echoing noises on the marble.
“Good morning,” a cheery blond secretary greeted him from behind a massive dark desk. “You must be Trey Johnson. Congressman Bell looks forward to meeting you.” Trey felt more optimistic as the minutes ticked past. The secretary got up with a flirtatious smile, then motioned for him to follow her. Trey did so with the curiosity one would reserve for celebrities. He’d never met Congressman Bell, but he was always in the news. In the office, a silver-haired man in a gray suit stood up to his full height of some six feet and a few inches.
“So,” he said, “this is Trey Johnson in the flesh.” Trey shook the hand he offered, flattered that the congressman would know who he was. “I won’t beat around the bush,” the congressman said. “I know you are a busy man. How much would you like to donate today?”
“Donate?” Trey echoed. The congressman didn’t miss a beat. “Yes, I assume you had read my call for support and wanted to help me.
