The charities will also both receive £1 from the sale of every project kit, and half each from the auction of the tailored coats.

PGCE and became head of a school art department within secondary education, followed by running workshops and setting up Untangled Threads. Untangled Threads, she notes, is about ‘fostering curiosity: showing people where to look, but not what to see. It is about empowering self-discovery.’ As an artist, her work looks at connections, memory and shared emotional intelligence, using fabric, print, poetry and prose, and materials which have ‘passed through generations, retaining physical and emotional traces of previous contacts’.

Helen is also fascinated by evolution and heredity: that chance mutation, a repetition, another layer formed. Helen believes that stitching and creating as part of a group is the ‘very essence łĹĶłŀŀňŁļŇŌяпłծĸŅļŁĺļŁķļʼnļķňĴĿņĴ chance to look inwards, while at the same time allowing everyone to be valued and respected as an essential part of the whole. Helen has run several successful national fundraising projects involving collaborative textile work, including the 1,568 Sawdust Hearts Project, The Stitchbook Project, Hearts & MIND and Primordial Soup, ĺļʼnļŁĺňŃĻĸŅŇļŀĸĹłŅŇĻĸĵĸŁĸձҳųŇĻĸŅņт She intends that the two tailored coats from her latest project will be exhibited alongside her new exhibition JANE in May 2027 and that ultimately, they will be auctioned in aid of MIND and the Embroiderers’ Guild.
