Flight Of Souls – Jade Valent

He’d decided that my other thigh needed some attention too. I cried out in protest when he left me again. Why did his love bites have to be even on both sides? I pinched my nipples, desperate for some sensation, but he wouldn’t relent. Every kiss added to the enormous pressure of the dam inside me, just dying to break. When satisfied with the equality of my thigh bruises, Thanatos nibbled my hip bone and looked up at me seductively. Holding my gaze, he licked sensually down the line where my leg met my body.
I twisted my nipples and bucked into the empty air. “Thanatos!” I begged. “Yes?” he replied innocently. “Mmmh! Please…” He grinned and watched with lusty fascination as I squirmed, clamping my legs around him, my every whine a prayer to my chosen god. “I fucking love you,” he declared at last.
Finally he gave me what I wanted, and the world flashed white as I came for him again. This time there was no hope of staying quiet: I wailed loudly, back arching, toes curling, as unbelievable release tore through my body. Thanatos redefined my euphoria, and I floated over the bed in a daze, half convinced he’d carried me to the afterlife. When I regained some sense of the world, he was stroking me, still.
I slowly pulled myself back to earth, guided by the feel of his warm hands on my shaking legs. Only when my heartbeat slowed considerably did I even attempt to speak. “Oh, fuck,” I moaned at last. I propped myself up and was met with the glorious sight of Thanatos peering up at me, licking his lips. He looked absolutely delighted. I grinned down at him, my hair a mess, my body slick with sweat. “You’re such a tease!” I giggled in complaint. He smiled irresistibly. “I am sorry.”
“No, you’re not.” “You are right, I am not. You look so sexy when you beg. I want to do that to you every day.” He nuzzled happily against my thigh. Every day? Fine by me. “Yes, please.” I held out my arms for him to join me. “Now come here.” He did as I asked and climbed back into bed, tangling his legs up with mine. I took his hand and kissed his fingers, one by one.
If only I could stay here forever. “Thanatos?” I breathed. Like speaking something sacred. “Hmm?” “I love you too.” OceanofPDF.com I couldn’t keep from staring at my beautiful lover, my body still light and tingling with satisfaction. Death smiled softly back, and let out a sigh as he pulled me snug against his chest, burying his nose in my hair.

The flames blossomed upward, dancing beneath my fingertips, averting the ill omen of a faltering spark.
I could afford no hesitation to admire the victory. I masked my fear with practiced composure as I placed the bowl of fire onto its stand and strode across the marble floor toward the dying man. Damarion’s breaths were slight, his eyes closed, his elderly countenance pale. The cup of sleep I’d administered moments ago had already taken hold. The family members at his bedside, five in total, gathered with grim understanding of what was soon to come.
They waited in silence, with one adult son holding each of his hands, flanked by three younger women. Now that the flame was lit, all of their eyes were on me. Expectant. My heartbeat quickened. I narrowed my concentration and took another step forward, black ceremonial linen swishing around my ankles. Ornamental jewels glittered on my wrists and fingers as I extended my hands over Damarion’s body.
“Honored of Halieis,” I called to the moribund elder, “we recognize your devotion in the names of our gods. On this day, your people extend to you our most fervent hope. We commend you to Elysium, the halls of the blessed.” At my words, the fire crackled eerily. I deliberately met each of the mourners’ eyes in turn, attempting to convey unwavering confidence. “His soul goes in the hands of the gods,” I told them.
“Leave him in my care.” Damarion’s family yielded to my authority. I watched, standing tall, as they spent their final moments at his side. With teary faces they imparted whispered words, squeezing his motionless hands. They held fast to each other as they broke away from him, and with solemn nods to me, they retreated through the chamber’s arched doorway.
I remained.
