Gay With Me – Patricia Logan

Luca said. “That’s right. It was made by the California Highway Patrol and they’d taken actual movies of bloody accident scenes.” “Yeah, that’s the one. There was one crash where a girl had been thrown out of the car and run over and then her body was propped up against a wheel well.”
“Yes! The one where she was headless?” “I think her head was still attached but it was stuffed up underneath the fender,” Kane said. “Where’d Thelma get it? I thought those films were only sold to schools.” “She and her daughter had a driver’s training business forever, remember?” “Oh yeah. Well, that makes more sense.” “She set up an old projector in her living room and pulled out film reels to play the old movie. I think she’d probably shown it a hundred times or more but I was transfixed to the screen.
So much blood,” Luca said, shuddering. “Well, now I’m really ready to eat, Luca. Thanks for that memory,” Kane said. Luca was still laughing as he got into the left turn lane to pull onto a side street where Barney’s Beanery was located. After appetizers of fried pickles with ranch dressing and potato skins with all the toppings, Kane ordered a Barney’s favorite of barbeque pork sandwiches for them, topping their meal off with “roast your own s’mores” that they made right at the table.
By the time they finished dinner, Luca asked Kane just to roll him out to the car. He was stuffed and he groaned loudly as he flopped down on the seat behind the wheel. When Kane chuckled, Luca looked over at him and gave him the stink eye. “What the fuck are you looking at?” Kane outright laughed. “You, Luca.
Did you eat too much?” “I love food but that was seriously overdoing it. I can’t believe you ordered dessert after everything we ate for dinner.” Kane chuckled again. “And I’m to blame, how? You didn’t have to eat it.” Luca pinned him with a narrow gaze. “I don’t waste food. I just can’t do that. I guess it’s because for so many years, me, my mom, and Lucie almost went hungry—I don’t know. I just don’t waste anything. Haven’t you noticed that I never leave a restaurant with a full plate?
If I can’t finish it, I take it home in a doggy bag, even if it’s three or four French fries.”
ATF special agent Kane Delancey has a new boyfriend. After nearly losing Luca to a monster, he knows how precious life can be. He was repentant when he returned to fall on his sword with Luca but as things have turned out, it was probably the most intelligent thing he’s ever done. If he thought life was full before meeting the handsome young jeweler, he’d been fooling himself. Luca is sweet, kind, and the funniest person Kane has ever met.
Luca never expected to see Kane again but after a season of losses, the two men reconnect to find that they need each other now, more than ever. It seems that Kane no longer has reservations about the two of them and Luca can’t be happier about it. How the straight-acting Fed and the young club kid are going to blend their very different lives is a question they’ll be grappling with in the coming months.
Seeing the hopeful look on Luca’s face when they discuss the problem, only helps Kane realize that there is no real choice at all. With a serial killer targeting young men on a WITSEC hitlist with bombs, Kane and the rest of his team at the LAPD, ATF, and FBI scramble to find the man and arrest him before one more person dies. The fact that Luca was nearly a victim the last time, scares Kane to death.
Join Kane, Luca, and a cast of characters as they track down a murderer in the newest installment of the WITSEC series before it’s too late.
